Dear Kate,
My name is Li Hua, and I’m thrilled to lead the new column “Telling China’s Stories in
English” for our School’s English newspaper. I’m writing to you for your beneficial advice on our
project.
Our aim for this column is to share informative and fascinating stories about Chinese culture
as well as improve students’ ability to tell these stories effectively in English. Given your
expertise(专长) in storytelling and cultural exchange, we highly value your suggestions regarding
the content, format, or any other aspects of the column.
Thank you for your time. We’re eager to hear your thoughts and excited about the possibility
of cooperating with you on this exciting project.
Yours Sincerely,
Li Hua
J ust at that moment , Luella's family returned in their car . Empathy(同 理 心 )
surged within me as I saw their shock and disbelief. Approaching Luella, I tightly
held her hands and said, “I'm so sorry for your loss, but thankfully you're all right. "
She weakly nodded, still puzzled by the frightening scene. My family volunteered to
help clean up the mess , cutting down the branches and removing the fallen trees. To
uplift Luella's spirits and bring her comfort, I tried my best to cheer her up while
tidying the garden with her, during which my own joyful personality seemed to
revive(使...复苏) a bit.
Even after the debris was cleared , I could still sense Luella's sorrow for her lost
garden . My heart went out to her, knowing her devotion to those tulips she had
nurtured(培育). Determined to restore the beauty that once existed, I suggested that
we rebuild the garden, which Luella delightedly embraced. With each bulb(球 茎 )
carefully planted and watered, the new tulip seedlings(籽苗) filled the garden once
again, which symbolized the beginning of a new friendship between us. My mom was
right: It's more blessed to give than to receive because when you give, you may
receive something unexpected in return.
