阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
Have you ever heard that "Success is a journey, not a destination"? As a man aged 30, I believe it 's true. It is,
in fact, my law of life. In my eyes, what matters is not necessarily where you are at the end,but what you achieve
while you are trying along the way. It means that no matter what, as long as you try, you can never fail. It means
you can learn from your mistakes and continue on the next journey a little wiser.
I think St. Louis Rams, a professional American football team in Missouri, as a whole shared my law of life.
They played every game with their full potential instead of letting a few winning games go to their heads. They had
the goal of playing in every Super Bowl, a football game played in the US each year on the first Sunday in
February. Even though they lost some games, they didn't give up.
It doesn't matter if' you don't have the ability to be on top in the end, to win the game; what matters is that you
worked hard the whole time. You should understand that success is a non-ending journey. Everyone should realize
that someone will win and someone will lose, but what's important is that both sides need to try their best. After all,
it's not who wins or loses, but how well you play the game and you should remember this in your own life.
( )1. What does the writer mainly talk about in Paragraph 1?
A.His biggest success. B. His dream for the future.
C. His understanding of his law of life. D.His achievements in the past few years.( )2. What does the underlined part "go to their heads" mean in Chinese?
A.去领导办公室 B.获得一等奖
C.撞到头部 D.冲昏头脑
( )3. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. We should try to win every game.
B. We should try our best whatever we do.
C. We should understand the meaning of life.
D. We should hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
Notes: destination n. 终点 law of life 生活准则 potential n.潜能
D
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
I'll tell you a secret. There's a place that gets me every time: whenever I'm there, I can't help but cry. Where
is it? It's thousands of meters high in the sky, in a plane, especially when there's a heart-warming comedy on.
Why am I admitting this now? Because I'm not alone. The British singer Ed Sheeran says he gets emotional
when flying too. Also a survey carried out by Gatwick Airport in London found that 15% of men admit they' re
more likely to cry during films in planes than watching at home. And 41% of men admit they often try to hide their
tears in another survey by Virgin Atlantic (a British airline). In all, 55% of air travelers in the Virgin Atlantic study
said they get emotional when flying.
So, what's going on? A study from the Netherlands has shown that adults cry because of feelings of separation,
loneliness or powerlessness. All of these are easily experienced when flying: you're far from family, often alone,
and have no control over the flight.
Another reason is that when you' re in a plane in the sky, there's not a lot you can do. So you are able to pay
more attention to the movies you watch..
Then there's the physical space. In a plane, air pressure and oxygen levels are lower, and this can affect our
brain and emotions. On a flight, you may be leaving loved ones or really wanting to see them again, or you might have had a drink
at a time you usually wouldn't, and if you see a seene that reflects your emotional state, without doubt, it ' s easier
for you to cry.
( )1. The writer begins the passage by__________________.
A. asking the readers a question B.telling a joke
C. giving one fact about himself D.telling a story
( )2. What do the writer and Ed Sheeran have in common?
A. They both live in London. B.They both get emotional when flying.
C. They both often take Virgin Atlantic planes. D. They both took the survey by Gatwick Airport.
( )3. Which of the following explains why adults cry while flying?
A. The study from the Netherlands. B.The survey by Gatwick Airport.
C. The survey by Virgin Atlantic. D. The study from the U.K.
( )4. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Surveys on air travelers B. Hiding your sadness
