History of Clothes
Men and women wore belts about 5,000 years ago. At first, people use them to carry
things and later, to hold their trousers up.
The first umbrellas protected people from the sun, not rain. Now, umbrellas are small
and light - you can put it in a handbag.
People usually wear gloves when it's cold. But for some people, they wear gloves at
work. For example, doctors.
The first pockets were small bags that people wore on their belts. In the 18th century
people sewed pockets into their clothes.
