I’m writing to express my opinions about the teaching of “Reading for Writing”. I fully understand that you desire to improve our writing in a short time. However, many of us find English writing a bit difficult. We are required to write an article directly, which can result in stress or a lack of progress. Therefore, I suppose maybe it’s better to teach us the related reading materials first and help us accumulate some words and expressions. Only in this way can we know better how to write. Finally, I hope that you will consider my suggestions. Thank you for your time. Yours sincerely, Li Hua 读后续写参考范文: Paragraph 1: Taking a deep breath, my father turned around. With a serious expression, he said, "You will come to realize the significance of playing it in your life. Your self-discipline and perseverance will make you a better man. And your music will bring others joy." I sat there, silently reflecting on my father's words. Maybe he was right. In spite of the fact that I couldn’t fully understand what my father had said, his seriousness had forced me to continue practicing and preparing for my solo performance in the following days. Paragraph 2: Then came the big day for the performance. At the theater, nervousness overtook me as I realized how much I wanted to make my parents proud. Finally when I gathered all my courage to play on the stage, the audience was silent. And when I finished, they erupted into applause. I saw my father seated there, beaming with pride. That day, I realized that my father's gift wasn't just an accordion. It was the gift of discipline and perseverance, and the value of hard work. They will stay with me for life. And for that, I would always be grateful. 解题思路分析: 本文的语篇类型为记叙文,主题语境为人与自我之个人成长。文章记叙了父亲送给“我” 一台手风琴,“我”最初对学习手风琴充满了恐惧和不满,但在父亲的坚持和教导下,只能 被迫坚持练琴,并一点点取得了进步。但是,有一次登台独奏的机会,“我”不想参加,对 {#{QQABDYaAggCIABIAARhCUQWYCkOQkBCCACoOAFAAsAAAQBFABCA=}#}手风琴的抵触情绪终于在父亲面前爆发出来...... 根据paragraph 1的首句Taking a deep breath, my father turned around. 和上一段的最后部 分可知,接下来是爸爸对“我”的教导。但是爸爸会说什么话才能让我同意登台表演呢?这 里要在原文中找到爸爸的话“...it’ll stay with you for life.”,并深入思考爸爸的这句话有什么 深意?什么会和永远伴随“我”并让“我”受益终生? 根据paragraph 2 的首句Then came the big day for the performance. 我们可以推断出接下 来应该叙述的是比赛当天的情况。作者最终是否能出色完成独奏?父亲会是什么反应?同时 对上一段父亲对“我”所说的话要有所照应。作者在比赛中或者比赛后会有什么样的顿悟? 最后意识到父亲给与自己的这台风琴背后的寓意是什么? 故事情节线索:“我”得到琴~“我”开始练琴~“我”的琴声让父亲得到放松~路人 肯定“我”的琴声~“我”参加比赛~“我”悟出深意。 情感线发展线:“我”不喜欢琴~“我”不情愿练琴~“我”因为父亲的表演和路人的 赞美产生小小的骄傲感~“我”履行责任般地继续坚持练琴~“我”对登台表演的抵触~“我” 对父亲的教育的“......”~“我”终于体会到了学琴的真正意义。 听力原文: Text 1 W: Are you ready to go to the lake? M: Yes, I am. I already packed my fishing equipment. Did you make my lunch? W: I did. It’s in the backseat of the car. M: Thanks, honey. I’ll see you later. Text 2 W: Brrrr! I’m cold. I thought it was supposed to be sunny today. M: Yeah, I thought so, too. That’s what the weatherman said. W: It must be the wind that makes it so cold. I’m freezing! Let’s go indoors. M: OK. Text 3 M: The announcement said passengers waiting to board should go to the ticket counter. I’ve got to go. W: I’ll be seeing you. Have a smooth flight. Text 4 W: Put an ad on the Internet. We’ve got to find a person for this job. M: Can you give me an idea about what sort of conditions we are offering? W: Just say salary negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Text 5 M: Lucy, where is Todd? W: He’s in the conference room. He’s been waiting for you. M: Could you tell him my flight has been delayed? I need to change the meeting time for tomorrow. W: OK. I’ll let him know. Text 6 M: I would like to know something about beginner Spanish. I will take charge of our company’s sales in Spain next year, so I’d like to learn some native language so as to communicate with local {#{QQABDYaAggCIABIAARhCUQWYCkOQkBCCACoOAFAAsAAAQBFABCA=}#}customers. W: Well, that’s an introductory course, so the focus is on basic grammar and some simple phrases. That class isn’t full yet. You are so lucky and should sign up soon. M: I’d do that now. W: OK. Sir. Here is the timetable for our courses. You can take it home. Text 7 M: What a fantastic performance! Thank you for inviting me to the musical. W: You are welcome. I’m happy you enjoyed the show. The performances of the dancers were incredible. It reminds me of when I used to dance. M: I know! You were such a talented ballerina. Do you miss dancing? W: Oh, that’s very kind of you, Shannon. I do miss it sometimes. I felt wonderful when I was on the stage. But I will always be a fan of the arts. That’s why I love going to musicals because it’s the perfect combination of song, dance and theater. Text 8 W: Jay, how were your New Year celebrations? M: I celebrated with my host family since I didn’t go home. It’s a long way from here to Beijing. W: Did you have a good time with your host family? M: Yeah, it was fun to share our stories. What did you do to celebrate New Year? W: Each family is different, I think. But one of my family traditions is the Rose Bowl and the Rose Parade. M: Wait, what’s the Rose Bowl? And what’s the Rose Parade? W: Well, the Rose Bowl is an annual American college football game, usually played on January 1st. The Rose Parade is held on the same day, unless New Year falls on a Sunday. M: Then, anything fun? W: It includes flower-covered floats. There are also marching bands. It’s really cool! Text 9 M:Hello, Freya. Mountain biking is a popular sport among teenagers but there are fewer girls doing it. Am I right? W:Yes, although we’re growing in numbers. When I was 13, my dad bought my brother a mountain bike but I was given an ordinary one. I really wanted to join my brother, so in the end my uncle got one for me. M:And now you’re a winner? W:Yes. I just won the Regional Championship. It was a difficult course with lots of rocks. At one point I thought I wasn’t going to win. I was ahead and then I had to slow down because a photographer jumped out from behind a tree. M:What do you think is the most important before a race? W:Well, there’s much to do. Take plenty of exercise to keep fit. Check the route in advance. And the most important I think is that you must make sure everything’s working on the bike. If there’s anything wrong with the bike, I’ll be in trouble. And the clothes shouldn’t slow you down so they need to be tight. They might feel a bit uncomfortable when you first put them on, but you will soon get used to it. I’m not bothered about not looking pretty—I just want to win. Text 10 W: Hey welcome to today’s talk! I’m Emma Davis, an AI enthusiast who’s been exploring this since finishing at MIT. I’m excited to share my passion for the incredible world of artificial intelligence, or AI. I’ll kick things off with an awesome story from 2015, in Silicon Valley. Our project was {#{QQABDYaAggCIABIAARhCUQWYCkOQkBCCACoOAFAAsAAAQBFABCA=}#}called “Project Skylark” and with Dr. Jack Thompson, a Cornell University bird expert. We wanted to teach a machine to recognize different birds. It was amazing. “Avis”, the AI system, learnt to improve its accuracy over time. In six months, it could identify bird species better than human experts! This showed the incredible potential of AI! It’s come a long way since the 1950s with Alan Turing’s ideas. Modern systems can analyze data, spot patterns, and make decisions on their own. This power has opened up endless possibilities in areas like healthcare, finance, and transportation. One inspiring example comes from Dr. Alice Chen, who in 2018 led a team at Stanford University to develop the computer program “MediScan” that analyzes images and detects early signs of diseases like cancer. MediScan’s accuracy and speed massively surpassed human capabilities, saving thousands of lives. However, it has its challenges and risks. A 2020 report showed concern of AI taking jobs and affecting economy. I love AI but there’s tough conversations about balancing progress, job security, privacy and security as systems get better. Together, we can create a future where AI helps us achieve our wildest dreams. {#{QQABDYaAggCIABIAARhCUQWYCkOQkBCCACoOAFAAsAAAQBFABCA=}#}
