If you’re an experienced backpacker, read no further. This article is for camping rookies, those who have never slept beneath the stars or haven’t pitched a tent since their youth but are seriously thinking about overnighting in the wilderness. Car camping At its most basic, car camping involves packing a tent, sleeping bag, fold-up chair, cooler and camp stove into your vehicle and staying at a drive-up campground. Nearly every national park, and many state and county parks and private facilities, offer drive-up campgrounds with restrooms, potable water, fire rings or pits, and maybe even hot showers. So there are lots of choices. The downside of car camping is the fact that these campgrounds are often packed with other campers. Not a lot of privacy, they can be noisy, and possibly hinder your quest of communing with nature. Backpacking No vehicle required; just your feet and a good pair of hiking boots or shoes to get you to the next overnight spot. A multi-day hiking trip is without doubt the most immersive way to experience the great outdoors. Different from maybe car camping, it requires the least expense and equipment. All you really need are a backpack, sleeping bag, water bottle, small first-aid kit, enough food to last the entire travel. It can be done just about anywhere on the planet. Boat Camping While this does involve owning or renting a watercraft or using a ferry or water taxi service to reach the overnight site, camping via canoe, kayak, raft or boat offers a similar get-away-from-it-all adventure as backpacking. Experienced paddlers and boaters usually prefer to camp on their own along a secluded shoreline. But many adventure or wilderness outfitters offer guided trips that can last anywhere from a couple of days to two or three weeks. With a boat, you can sometimes camp places that not even backpackers can reach. 21.Who are the intended readers? 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002A.Red-blooded males B.White-collar staff C.Blue-blooded tourists D.Green-hand campers 22.What can you learn from the passage? A.Backpacking allows you to communicate with nature deeply. B.Car camping is the most economic way to experience nature. C.The drive-up campgrounds provide people with private environment. D.Boat camping offers the same adventures as backpacking. 23.In which column will you find this passage? A.Feature B.Style C.Travel D.Entertainment 【答案】21.D 22.A 23.C 【导语】这是一篇应用文。 根据第一段中“This article is for camping rookies, those who have never slept beneath the stars or haven’t pitched a tent since their youth but are seriously thinking about overnighting in the wilderness.(这 篇文章是写给露营新手的,这些人从年轻时就没有在星空下睡过觉,也没有搭过帐篷,但他们正在认真考 虑在野外过夜)”可推知,这篇文章的目标读者应该是新手露营者。故选D项。 22. 根据 Backpacking 中“A multi-day hiking trip is without doubt the most immersive way to experience the great outdoors.(多日徒步旅行无疑是体验户外美景的最身临其境的方式)”可知,背包旅行可以 让你与自然进行深入的交流。故选A项。 23. 根据文章大意以及标题“Camping tips: Which overnight wilderness experience is right for you?(露营小贴士:哪种过夜的野外体验适合你?)”和第一段“If you’re an experienced backpacker, read no further. I have to admit that when I first heard that Paul Salopek was going to walk the entire globe on his own two feet, I was blown away. I couldn’t imagine that there could be such an unusual person in the world. Last May, I met Paul. He told me that it was his first time in China. He talked to me with great excitement about the history, migrations, and discoveries in my region of China. He spoke of the Shu-Yandu Dao (the Southern Silk Road), the travels of the 17th-century Chinese explorer Xu Xiake, the Tea Horse Road and the early 20th-century American botanist Joseph Rock. He also talked of Xuanzang. Paul considered many of them heroes and in a sense Chinese pioneers of slow journalism. I decided to accompany Paul on his walk toward Yunnan. On September 28, 2021, we set out. Our days were simple: walk, eat, sleep, and repeat. We woke up at sunrise, set off in high spirits, and rested at sunset, dragging ourselves into exhausted sleep. We met many people on the road. Some were curious, surrounding us and watching us: some gave us directions; some invited us into their home to take a rest; some spoke of the charm of their hometown. We met many beautiful souls, simple souls and warm souls. We were walking with our minds. Together, we were impressed by the biodiversity of the Gaoligong Mountains. As I walked on ancient paths through mountains, I seemed to hear the antique voices of past travelers urging me to be careful on the road. Looking back on the more than 200 miles I walked with Paul, I came to a realization. Walking for its own sake, while healthy and admirable, is only a small part of the benefit of moving with our feet. A deeper reward is rediscovering the world around us, shortening the distance between each other, and sharing each other’s cultures. 24.How did the writer first respond to Paul’s travel plan? A.Amused. B.Surprised. C.Confused. D.Puzzled. 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx00225.What can we learn about Paul Salopek from paragraph 2? A.He was a western journalist. B.He had a knowledge of China. C.He came to China several times. D.He was Joseph Rock’s acquaintance. 26.What does paragraph 4 tell us about the writer and Paul? A.They honored the ancestors. B.They set off in high spirits. C.They satisfied the locals’ curiosity. D.They built bonds with people. 27.What is the main purpose of the writer’s writing the text? A.To share and reflect on a journey. B.To suggest a new way of travel. C.To advocate protection of biodiversity. D.To introduce and promote Chinese culture. 【答案】24.B 25.B 26.D 27.A 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者住在云南喜洲,在历史悠久的茶马古道上,遇到了要用双 脚环游地球的Paul Salopek,决定陪保罗去云南,描述了他们路上的见闻和感悟。 24.推理判断题。根据第一段中“I have to admit that when I first heard that Paul Salopek was going to walk the entire globe on his own two feet, I was blown away. I couldn’t imagine that there could be such an unusual person in the world.(我不得不承认,当我第一次听说Paul Salopek要用自己的两只脚走完整个地球时,我惊呆了。 我无法想象世界上会有这样一个不寻常的人。)”可推知,作者最初对保罗的旅行计划感到吃惊,故选B。 25.推理判断题。根据第二段的“He spoke of the Shu-Yandu Dao (the Southern Silk Road), the travels of the 17th-century Chinese explorer Xu Xiake, the Tea Horse Road and the early 20th-century American botanist Joseph Rock. He also talked of Xuanzang. Paul considered many of them heroes and in a sense Chinese pioneers of slow journalism.(他谈到了蜀盐渡道(南方丝绸之路)、17世纪中国探险家徐霞客的旅行、茶马古道和20世纪初 美国植物学家约瑟夫·洛克。他还谈到了玄奘。保罗认为他们中的许多人是英雄,在某种意义上是中国慢新 闻的先驱。)”可知, Paul Salopek对中国有一定的了解。故选B。 26.主旨大意题。根据第四段的“We met many people on the road. Some were curious, surrounding us and watching us: some gave us directions; some invited us into their home to take a rest; some spoke of the charm of 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002their hometown. We met many beautiful souls, simple souls and warm souls. We were walking with our minds.(我 们在路上遇到了很多人。有些人很好奇,围在我们周围看着我们;有些人给我们指路;有些人邀请我们到他 们家里休息;一些人谈到了他们家乡的魅力。我们遇到了许多美丽的灵魂,简单的灵魂和温暖的灵魂。我 们在用我们的意念行走。)”可知,第四段主要说明了作者和保罗与人们建立了联系。故选D。 27.推理判断题。根据最后一段的“Looking back on the more than 200 miles I walked with Paul, I came to a realization. Walking for its own sake, while healthy and admirable, is only a small part of the benefit of moving with our feet. A deeper reward is rediscovering the world around us, shortening the distance between each other, and sharing each other’s cultures.(回顾和保罗一起走过的200多英里,我有了一个认识。走路本身,虽然健康 和令人钦佩,只是一小部分的好处与我们的脚移动。更深层的回报是重新发现我们周围的世界,缩短彼此 之间的距离,分享彼此的文化。)”并结合文章主要讲述了作者住在云南喜洲,在历史悠久的茶马古道上,遇 到了要用双脚环游地球的Paul Salopek,决定陪保罗去云南,描述了他们路上的见闻和感悟可推知,文章的 目的是分享和回顾一段旅程。 故选A。 C (23·24上·湖北·阶段练习) You are what you eat — and what you eat may be encoded in your DNA.Studies have indicated that your genetics play a role in determining the foods you find delicious or disgusting. “Everything has a genetic component, even if it’s small,” says Joanne Cole, a geneticist and a professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. “We know there is some genetic contribution to why we eat the foods we eat. Can we take the next step and actually show the exact position of the regions in the genome (染色体)?” A new research led by Cole has gotten a step closer. Through a large-scale genomics analysis, her team has identified 481 genome regions that were directly linked to dietary patterns and food preferences. The findings were presented at the American Society for Nutrition’s annual flagship conference. They were based on a 2020 Nature Communications study by Cole and her colleagues that used data from the U. K. Biobank, a public database of the genetic and health information of 500,000 participants. By scanning genomes, the new analysis was able to home in on 194 regions associated with dietary patterns and 287 linked to specific foods such as fruit, cheese, fish, tea and alcohol. “This study had a huge number of subjects, so that’s really powerful,” says Monica Dus, an associate 微信公众号:【高中精品资料君】全网最全电子讲义以及最全网课,有需要的联系微信:xygewx002professor at the University of Michigan, who wasn’t a part of the new research but studies the relationship between genes and nutrition. “The other thing that I thought was really great is that they have so many different characteristics that they’re measuring in respect to diet. They had cholesterol, the body, socioeconomic backgrounds.” As the research advances, Dus says such genome analyses could possibly help health care providers — and even policymakers — address larger issues that affect food access and health. “Instead of trying to obsess over telling people to eat this or that, a more powerful intervention is to link it to making sure there aren’t ‘food deserts’ or to make sure that there’s a higher minimum wage — things that have a broader impact,” she says. 28.What is the purpose of Cole’s new research? A.To encode the role of DNA in determining food choices. B.To select genetic components tightly related to food consumption. C.To figure out the relationship between genetics and food preferences. D.To identify specific regions in the genome related to food preferences. 29.What’s paragraph 3 mainly about? A.The process of the study. B.The findings of the study. C.The data-source of the study. D.The significance of the study. 30.What does Monica Dus mean in the text? A.The subjects of the study are powerful. B.The research team studied many aspects linking to diet. To prevent these organisms from spreading through the body, which can permanently injure or kill a person, the infected wound may need to be cleaned and treated with antibiotics. Medical professionals typically identify infections by unwrapping and observing a wound or by swabbing (用拭子擦拭) it and conducting a laboratory test. But removing a wound dressing can slow down the healing process. Plus, observations are subjective, while swab tests take time and require that a patient be physically present. To address these issues, some research teams are developing devices that sit under bandages and continuously monitor indirect signs of infection, such as changes in wound temperature or acidity. And scientists at the National University of Singapore have now created an even more direct infection sensor. This sensor can detect an enzyme (酶) called DNase. The enzyme acts as a reliable infection indicator because disease-causing bacteria produce it in large amounts inside wounds, whereas bacteria on healthy skin do not—so testing for the substance reduces the chance of a false positive result. Furthermore, DNase builds up before other infection signs appear. The new alert system, nicknamed the“wireless infection detection on wounds” (WINDOW) sensor, was detailed in Science Advances. WINDOWs enzyme-sensing parts rely on a material called DNAgel. There searchers developed a particular kind of DNAgel that remains stable in watery environments, such as the human body, but begins to break down in the presence of DNase. They connected this gel (凝胶) to a chip that senses when the gel responds by sending a signal to a smartphone. Thus far, the team has exposed the DNAgel to wound swabs from 18 people’s wounds to see how much the material degraded in the presence of the bacteria. There searchers also used the device on six living lab mice whose wounds were exposed to the same bacterial species, and it successfully detected infections. 32.What is the first paragraph mainly about? D.By observing changes in wound color. 34.What can we expect of the WINDOW sensor in the future? A.It will cut down the length of infection-treating. B.It could reduce the cost of infection observation. C.It can monitor wounds continuously and remotely. D.It might help conduct laboratory tests on wounds. 35.What can be the best title for the text? Looking back, I feel like we were missing the point: Barbie was simply a blank canvas upon which to draw our ideas. It remained a riddle who the kind soul was. As she got a well-paid job and accumulated a large sum of money, Sara decided to pay back the anonymous helper. She went back to her high school and met Mr. Salim, who revealed the truth at her request. It was Ms. Chang, now a retired teacher, who was making all the contribution. Sara was in a flood of tears. She couldn’t wait to visit her. With the address Mr. Salim gave her, Sara stood at the gate of Ms. Chang’s house. The memory of her last talk with Ms. Chang brought tears to her eye. “Without Ms. Chang’s help, I would not be where I am.” As she was lost in thought, the door opened and a kind, grey-haired lady greeted her. Sara choked up when she recognized Ms. Chang. She was so grateful that she hugged her teacher tightly. However hard Sally tried, Ms. Chang wouldn’t accept the money. “Pay it forward,” she said in earnest. 决定做某事:decide to do/determines to do/ make up one’s mind to do ③.拥抱:hug / throw one’s arms around sb 情绪类 ①.泪流满面:in a flood of tears/burst into tears ②.感激的:grateful/appreciative 【点睛】[高分句型1].
