their languages – you know, over a drink or something. We have different languages on
differentevenings. Monday – Spanish;Tuesday – Italian;Wednesday – German; andFriday –
French.OnThursdayweusuallyhaveamealinarestaurantforanyonewhowantstocome.

M: Welcome to Inhotim. Now I’ll give an introduction to it, first. From a distance, Inhotim looks
like a typical Brazilian countryside, but as you get closer, you notice something a bit unusual.
Therearetourists walkingthrough thefieldsandgardens!Thisbeautifulplacestartedasafarm
and for many years only farmers lived here. But that all changed in the1990s when billionaire
Bernardo Paz decidedto usethe spacefor something very different. He created a “Disneyland”
for art lovers! Today, people travel from around the world and look at the art. The spaces of
Inhotim include more than 500 sculptures by Brazilian and international artists. As well as
being important culturally,it is really important for the localarea because Inhotim creates a lot
of jobs – 1,000 people work here in the museum, gardens and restaurants.Although it is quite
far from the usual tourist spots of Brazil, it is now a very successful and popular outdoor
museum.
