Frozen II
Disney never makes proper big-screen follow-ups to its cartoons to suit kids’ taste, except Wreck-It Ralph.
Frozen was the Box Office Champion of 2013 and, until The Lion King remake overtook it. Frozen the highest
money-making cartoon film ever, it’s hardly surprising that the studio made it an exception.
Won’ t You Be My Neighbor?
Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks), host of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood for over 30 years, was an icon of an
entertainment channel. The documentary about his uplifting life and work, Won’ t You Be My Neighbor, was a box
office hit. Tom Hanks was awarded The Best Actor of The Year by the Golden Globe. BBC Culture’s Caryn James
says “It is something rare — a warm-hearted film that everyone will enjoy”.
Charlie’ s Angels
Hollywood action movies written and directed by women and starring women are incredibly rare. Charlie’s
Angels is one of the best. A restart of the 1970s TV series, let alone the two films from 2000 and 2003, the new
version is produced by Elizabeth Banks, director of Pitch Perfect 2. She also plays Bosley, the middleman between
the mysterious Charles Townsend and the female detectives he pays.
Minari
Most dialogue in Korean, Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari was classified by the Golden Globe in the Foreign
Language Film. But Minari is also the tale of a US family working on a small farm in Arkansas in the 1980s. Glenn
Whip in the Los Angeles Times says the film “feel like a comfort right now, a gentle truthful and tender story offamily filled with kind people trying to love one another the best they can.”
21. Which film is most suitable for a child movie lover?
A. Frozen II. B. Minari.
C. Charlie’s Angels. D. Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
22. What’s the most special about the film Charlie’s Angels?
A. It is produced by Hollywood.
B. Women contribute more to its production.
C. Elizabeth Banks also plays a role in the film.
D. It is the fourth version and the best of its series.
23. What do Won’t You Be My Neighbor? and Minari have in common?
A. The reporters thought highly of them respectively.
B. They told average people’s stories in a truthful way.
C. They both won big prizes awarded by the Golden Globe.
D. They belonged to the category of Foreign Language Film.

A “bucket list” is a personal list of goals and activities someone wants to accomplish before the end of his life.
,
Fortunately I’ve been able to check off many of mine, an achievement that many people I know never get the
opportunity to do.
While most people don’t like to talk about mortality (死亡), the hard fact is that it will come eventually. After
the loss of several loved ones, I decided to make my bucket list so that, when I reflect on my life, I’ll smile and
know that I grabbed every chance at happiness that I could.
Some of the things on my bucket list that I’ve achieved — hiking the Plank Road in the Sky on Mount
Huashan in China; diving off the highest platform of 15 meters (50 feet) into the sea at Ariel’s Point in Boracay;
doing the world’s highest commercial bungee jump at 233 meters off Macao Tower; octopus fishing in the Yellow
Sea off South Korea; and much more.
The top item on my bucket list, however, is much more difficult to achieve. Being adopted from South Korea
to the United States in 1976, I have been searching for my birth parents for the past several years. I can’t help but
worry that they may be gone. But having this item head my list urges me to keep trying and I’m planning to visit
Seoul in October to continue the search.
When I’ve talked about my bucket list to others, some of the feedback I’ve received is that it seems “a bit
morbid”. Like, if you have a list, you’re thinking about your death. But I’m still in my rosy years. As you get older, the list may change. And that’s OK. Whether it includes visiting certain countries, getting in
better physical shape, buying a particular item or just spending more time with loved ones, there is no wrong way
to do a bucket list. Your list can include short-term goals, once-in-a-lifetime experiences or just personal goals. It
can give a boost to your motivation and force you to take breaks when you might not otherwise think of doing so.
24. Why did the author decide to make his bucket list?
A. Because he missed his loved ones. B. Because he was afraid of early death.
C. Because he thought life was too hard. D. Because he didn’t want to live to regret.
25. Which of the following wishes has NOT been achieved according to the author?
A. Diving at Ariel’s Point. B. Hiking on Mount Huashan.
C. Doing bungee off Macao Tower. D. Finding his biological parents.
26. What does the underlined word “morbid” in paragraph 5 probably mean?
A. peculiar. B. necessary. C. acceptable. D. amazing.
.
27 What can we infer from the last paragraph?
.
A People should stick to their dreams and hopes.
B. It doesn’t make any sense to change the bucket list.
C. A bucket list can help us get motivated and relaxed.
D. Personal experiences shouldn’t be included in a bucket list.

Weighing just 2 grams, hummingbirds don’t appear to be fierce and strong. Hummingbird migration (迁徙)
season gets underway in August, when the small birds will fly thousands of miles away in search of warmer
climates and blooming flowers to last out the cold winter months. Colder temperatures don’t necessarily bother
them, but finding new food sources is a headache.
About 20 of the world’s 363 known hummingbird species call the U.S. home, most native to the western U.S.,
especially Arizona and southern Texas. “East of the Mississippi, we only have the Ruby-throated hummingbird,”
said David Wiedenfeld, a senior conservation scientist with the American Bird Conservancy. When migration
season begins, the Ruby-throated hummingbirds are still abundant throughout the eastern half of the U.S. By early
October, they are starting to show up in Central America, and they settle in southern Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras,
Nicaragua, and Costa Rica for the winter.
On their journey, some birds cross the Gulf of Mexico, cruising from the coast of Texas or Louisiana to the
Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico without stopping for about 18 hours, “without landing, without eating, without
drinking,” Wiedenfeld said. “For these tiny birds, it’s a tremendous crossing.” Since males play a minor role inraising their young, they often set out south sooner, usually by September 1st, followed by females a few weeks
later after their babies leave the nest. Then, the young hummingbirds set out on the journey alone. “They’re doing it
for the first time, all on their own,” said Witko. “They’re just setting off by nature. They’ve evolved the signals ...
that tell them to go certain directions and certain places.”
,
The start of migration season means hummingbirds will be easier to spot which means it will bring bird-
watchers new opportunities to catch sight of them on their trip. Seeing hummingbirds really comes down to finding
places where there are native plants, native flowers. Those are always some of the best spots. Besides, bird feeder
with homemade nectar (花蜜) placed right outside your window will attract them, offering you a close-up view of
their beating wings.
28. What’s the biggest challenge hummingbirds encounter when August comes?
A. Cold temperatures. B. Lack of food supplies.
C. Their natural enemies. D. The long distance ahead.
29. Which words can best describe little Ruby-throated hummingbirds in paragraph 3?
A. Rough and smart. B. Patient and creative.
C. Energetic and friendly. D. Independent and persistent.
30. What should bird-watchers do to observe the little bird close by?
A. Equip themselves with a telescope. B. Follow their tracks all the way.
C. Wait around foreign flowers and observe. D. Place a bird feeder containing nectar outside.
31. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Hummingbirds Flying South Feasts Bird-watchers’ Eyes
B. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Are Native to America Only
C. Tiny Hummingbirds Start Big Journey for Warmer Winter
D. Hummingbirds Favor Warmer Climates and Blooming Flowers

Roughly 42% of Americans are nearsighted today, compared to 25% in 1971. The WHO predicts that about half
of the world’s population will have myopia, or nearsightedness, by 2050. It’s clear that our vision is becoming
increasingly unclear.
On seeing this, while our first reaction is to blame the increased use of screens, experts believe the real reason
is not that, exactly, but it’s related: namely less time spent outdoors. Exposure to natural light stimulates dopamine (多巴
胺), helping regulate normal growth and development of the eyeball. Indoor lighting doesn’t do the trick. Ideally,
kids should get at least two hours of natural light a day.Still, our increased use of screens is a problem. Most screens are high contrast — like black text on a white page,
or light text on a dark background. It’s still a theory, but some scientists think that the contrast of reading a book or
looking at a bright screen in a dark room might be over-stimulating our retinas (视网膜), causing more eye growth
problems in children. A 2018 study in Scientific Records analyzed the retinal pathways when looking at black text
on white backgrounds compared to natural environments, and concluded the contrast could stimulate myopia. Close
work, like reading and looking closely at screens, has also been shown to cause myopia.
Researchers are working on ways to slow down rising myopia rates. A recent clinical trial found eye-drops with a
low dose of atropine can slow myopia in kids. There’s also some early evidence that peripheral defocus lenses (周
边离焦透镜) might help stop nearsightedness from worsening.
It’s strongly recommended that regular eye examinations should be a must, for people with myopia are at a
higher risk of developing eye issues as they age, such as glaucoma, early cataracts and macular degeneration. You
can also reduce eye pressure by making a few simple lifestyle changes, such as ensuring that you are reading or
working in good light, and taking frequent breaks, etc.
32. What’s the real reason why so many people are nearsighted?
A. Dramatically increased use of screens. B. Not enough exposure to natural light.
C. Not having enough breaks when working. D. Looking at screens at a short distance.
33. Why does the author mention the 2018 study in Scientific Records?
A. To call on readers to remove their incorrect eye habits.
B. To prove to readers the seriousness of nearsightedness.
C. To support the link between high contrast and myopia.
D. To show he is well-informed of the advances in this field.
34. What can you do to improve the situation of your myopia?
A. Work on your homework for hours on end.
B. Apply eye-drops with a high dose of atropine.
C. Wear specially-designed peripheral defocus lenses.
D. Have an eye operation recommended at an early age.
35. What’s the main structure of this passage?
A. Questions — answers. B. Problem — reasons — solutions.
C. Problem — changes — effects. D. Viewpoint — arguments — conclusion.

daytime, you can do small tasks to keep daytime work and sleep separate. Lisa Strauss, a psychologist and expert in
sleep disorders, suggests using one side of the bed for reading and the other for sleeping.
Freshen the air. Lower the lights.
For starters, you must make sure the air flow is good. An air purifier will work, if you cook and
sleep in the same place. Also, be sure that computer, TV, and other electronic screens are turned off at night.
____39____
Keep things clean and organized
One thing to avoid when it comes to studio living is leaving beds unmade. Why? ____40____It will also add

第二节 (满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。An Angel on a Snowy Night
The wind was blowing hard as I was driving down the twists and turns of the country road. I was desperate to
get home before dark, but there seemed no way. The forecast said there was going to be a heavy snow on the way. It
was freezing cold outside. The wind was blowing against the windows, letting out buzzing noises. Hair standing on
end, I stepped hard on the accelerator, longing to make it to my cozy home earlier.
The car was roaring along the rough road when I suddenly heard a big bang coming from behind. The car
somehow slowed down, and I managed to pull it over to the side of the road. I was in a cold sweat from extreme
terror, wondering what had just happened. Dragging myself out of the driver’s seat, I shivered with cold. Suddenly,
a gust of cold wind cleared my head. Quickly I examined the car. Much to my surprise, no serious damage was
done. It was just a flat tire, but the car couldn’t move forward an inch!
It was black dark outside. There was not a single soul around to turn to. A wave of fear instantly washed over
me. Worse still, it began to snow at the very moment. Snowflakes were dancing in the air at the mercy of howling
wind. How I wished someone could come to my rescue just in time! With nowhere to hide, I had to wait in the
darkness, cold and helpless.
I waited and waited, but no car or truck passed by. Swallowed by complete darkness, I almost went mad. “What if
no one comes? What should I do?”, I mumbled. At this point, I was totally seized by anxiety and fear. My patience
was running out when loud noises boomed out from the dark night. There came a Ford pickup, with dazzling light
cast over the white snow. I sprang to my feet, waving my arms crazily.

1.续写词数应为150左右;
