The water closed over my head again. I struggled to move both my hands and legs. I
thought about my mom. What would she do if she couldn’t find me? What about my
brothers and sisters? When thinking, I didn’t know the noise produced by my hands and

hand. I learned she and other kids made a human chain so that she could get me. I was
speechless. Kids ran all around me, jumping, running and screaming. Maybe this great
big crazy family wasn’t so crazy. After all, they were the human chain. Because of them,
