Some of us may not be happy with what we can do or what we are like. We always dream of having special
talents or being better at something than others. But there’s a group of people having difficulty doing even the
simplest things like walking and running. We call such people “the disabled”. Most of them have either no legs or
no arms. And some of them even can’t see or hear.
However, at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games(东京残奥会), Chinese disabled players showed the world
what real talents were. Wen Xiaoyan, a girl with some problems in the left part of her body, got the first prize in the
women’s 200 m running competition and broke the world record(记录) at the same time. She told the reporter that
she was happy to win the game. She also said she wasn’t surprised about the result because she practiced all the
time. Another example was Lu Dong, a swimmer with no arms. Like Wen, Lu broke the world record, too. She said
to the reporter that she was successful not because of luck but because of her practice and the spirit(精神) of never
giving up(放弃). Their successful stories touched many people.
Through what the Chinese players did at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, people around the world knew
more about the Chinese ways of fighting difficulties in life and the spirit of Chinese players. Many disabled people
may think their lives are hopeless, but these players showed that the disabled can still be successful as long as they
try their best. Also, after the game, people started to think more about being friendlier to the disabled around them
and helping them in real life.1.___________________
