the People's Republic in 1949 and worked for the happiness of the Chinese people. By rediscovering history and

spirits.
Red tourism can also be used as an opportunity to develop rural(农村的)areas because most of the red tourism
sites are in the countryside. It can raise the incomes(收入)of local people. Since red tourism creates jobs and helps
increase farmers' incomes, it contributes to local economic development.

High school can be challenging for everyone. You are going through an awkward time and you may either fit in
right away or feel like a complete outcast. But no matter how well you may fit in (or not), joining a club will be good
for you in the short term and long term.
Joining a club is a great way to meet new people, especially if you are new to the school. Joining a club forces
you to communicate with people who have similar interests as you. Even if you are the shyest and quietest person,
you are sure to develop a relationship with at least one person in the club that you decide to join.
Another really nice thing about joining a club is that doing activities looks good on college applications(申
请).Being known as outgoing is a highly important quality; it shows that you are determined and willing to try new
things. Another nice thing is that it could help you develop skills that you could use during a college interview.
Many students struggle with productivity. Most teens go to school and then come home and spend the rest of
the day in front of the television or phone, but activities can prevent this. Teens are easily influenced and if they end
up with the wrong group of people, they may face bad results such as problems with the law. Clubs provide a safe
place to spend time with friends.
Maybe the most important reason why you should join a club is the long-term benefit(益处)it brings. The
classroom isn't the only learning environment in a school. Things such as meeting and speaking to new people,
keeping an eye on the time, and being organized are things you will use every single day of your life.
32. What might the underlined word "outcast" in paragraph 1 mean?
A. A person who is popular. B. A person who is not smart.
C. A person who is not accepted. D. A person who is confident.
33. What do colleges think highly of according to the text?
A. The number of clubs you have joined. B. The good personality you have developed.
C. The strong relationships you have built. D. The skills you have learned while forming a club.
34. What's the advantage of joining a club talked about in paragraph 4?
A. Increasing knowledge. B. Learning teamwork skills.
C. Making good use of your time. D. Improving your fitness level.
35. What is the best title for the text?A. What Club Should You Join? B. How to Join a Club You Like?
C. Should You Join a Second Club? D. Why Should You Join a Club?

When I was in the eighth grade, I faced a challenge that taught me a lot about dealing with difficult situations.
It was the end of the school year, and we had a big science project. My teacher divided us into several groups, and
I was placed with three other classmates. We were given the task of building a model volcano(火山模型)that
actually erupted(爆发)using both baking soda and vinegar(小苏打和醋).
The idea sounded simple at first, but it turned out that the project was more difficult than I had imagined. In the
beginning, we were all excited. We planned out our design, gathered materials, and even held many meetings to make
sure we can do it correctly. We talked about different designs and researched how to make the best eruption.
However, things started to go wrong immediately. One of our group members hardly showed up to any of our
meetings, giving a lot of excuses. Another didn't do much when he came. This made me and one other group member
do most of the work.
We decided to meet at my house one Saturday to really focus and finish the task. On that day, we failed not once,
but twice. We didn't get the eruption as we hoped. After hours of trying, we felt tired. We sat down, feeling very upset,
thinking we would never finish the project on time.
It was then that my mom came out to see how we were doing. She saw the unhappiness on our faces and said,"
Often there are challenges in our life, but how you choose to face them is the most important."
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;

Dear Linda,
I'm sorry to know that you have difficulty in learning English, so I'm writing to give you some useful advice on it.
First of all, you can read and memorize the English words and articles aloud, which helps enlarge your vocabulary.
Besides, it is suggested that you read a variety of English books, which is good for your writing. Last but not least,
you should use English more often, such as trying communicating in English with classmates.
If you hold on to your dream, I'm sure you will be successful in your English learning some day. Looking forward
to receiving your good news.
Yours,
Li Hua

参考范文
Hearing her words, we were deeply moved. We decided to take a short break to clear our minds. When we came
back to the project, we solved with the problems one by one, starting with reinforcing the base of our volcano so it
wouldn't fail again. This time, we also divided the tasks more effectively: one person focused on the structural aspects
while another worked on the chemical reaction needed for the eruption. Despite the previous problems and failures,
we managed to build a sturdy model.
On the day of showing our model, our volcano erupted perfectly. We impressed our teacher and classmates and
received an A for our project. However, more importantly, I learned a valuable lesson about facing challenges. The
entire experience taught me that challenges are a part of life. They can either knock you down or push you to become
stronger. Through this project, I learned the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and staying calm under pressure.
Now, whenever I face a difficult situation, I remember that Saturday and my mom's advice: it's not about the challengeitself, but how you face it.

(Text 6)

Do you think appearance is the most important thing about a person?
M: No, but it's more important than a person's character in the game we are playing.
(Text 10)
M: I have played music for most of my life-about twenty years. My parents had a piano in our house that I would
pretend to play as a two-year-old kid. I started taking lessons at the age of ten. I loved to play. I would practice for
three hours a day as a kid. As I got older, my teachers and parents wanted me to get serious about playing. So, in high
school, I took music classes and played in some concerts to make them pleased. I traveled to other cities to play. The
concerts and the traveling were hard on me. I was worried about making my parents proud and being the best I could
be. When I left high school and went to college, I stopped playing as much. At some point, I decided not to play the
piano anymore. But I never forgot the music. Now I just play for fun. I don't practice every day, and I don't have to
become the best player anymore. But that's okay with me.
