Knowing that you’ll continue to stay in China during the winter vacation, I’m eager to invite
you to spend this Spring Festival together with my family.
As you know, Chinese New Year’s Eve is the most significant occasion of the festival. If
you’d like to, you may come shortly before it. The sense of well-being is among the atmosphere
where we spend important moments with our members of family so it is welcome that you bring
your families to enjoy the special time with my grandparents, parents and me. To make you
experience the traditions impressively, we are going to take part in the activities, such as, making
dumplings, watching the Spring Festival Gala on CCTV, watching dragon and lion dancing and
guessing riddles and so on.

47．Later that night, after supper, my dad told me to come into the living room for a surprise.
There was a cage on the floor of the living room. I ran to see that there was a hamster in the cage.
It had yellow fur and a pair of black eyes. Its two triangular ears stood on the top of its head. The
small nose and mouth connected. Small nostrils kept moving up and down, and the mouth was like
a rabbit’s mouth. And there were several white whiskers on the mouth. Dad said this hamster was
a pet for me.
I named my pet hamster (仓鼠)Giraffe. Because it reminded me of my pet the giraffe in the
zoo. Today, I began to learn how to take care of the hamster, such as feeding and drinking, and
cleaning it. I like to look at it and talk about my mood of the day. Maybe one day I will take him
to the zoo to see the giraffe I want to raise.
