Our wonderful natural world

There are so many wonders on earth. We need to take care of them.

Mount Qomolangma is the world’s highest mountain. It was 8,848.86 metres high in 2020. And it is getting higher every year. It will be higher in the future.

What is the world’s biggest desert? You may say the Sahara. Well, it’s not. It is the Antarctic Desert. How big is it? It is over 14 million square kilometres.

The longest river in the world is the Nile. It is about 6,671 kilometres long. It runs across 11 countries. There is little rain in Africa. So the Nile is very important.

地球上存在许许多多自然奇观，我们要好好爱护它们。

Xu Xiake

Xu Xiake is one of the most famous travellers in China. He was interested in nature from a young age. He read many books about famous mountains and rivers. He wanted to see them with his eyes.

Xu Xiake started to travel at the age of 21. He visited many places in China. He wrote about mountains and rivers, like Mount Huangshan and the Jinsha River. From his words, people today learn about the China of his days.

Xu Xiake loved nature. Some people did bad things to it. He was angry and always called for people to take care of nature.

He travelled for about 30 years. He was happy with his life of travel. “I went to so many wonderful places in China. I had a wonderful life.”

徐霞客

徐霞客是中国历史上著名的旅行家之一。他从小就热爱大自然，阅读了许多描写名山大川的书籍，想要亲自亲眼去看一看这些山河。

徐霞客 21 岁开启游历生涯，走遍了中国诸多地方。他写下大量山水游记，记录黄山、金沙江等地风貌。如今的人们可以通过他的文字，了解他所处年代的中国风貌。

徐霞客十分热爱自然。看到有人破坏自然环境，他十分痛心，一直呼吁大家爱护大自然。

他在外游历将近三十年，十分热爱游历的一生。“我走遍了华夏无数美景，这一生过得十分精彩。”

Nature: The most famous national parks around the world

1. Sanjiangyuan National Park, China

It is the biggest national park in China. It has rivers, mountains, lakes and grasslands. The most famous animal here is the snow leopard.

2. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

It is one of the most famous national parks in Africa. It has grasslands, rivers and forests. Every year, a lot of the animals here move across the park. People around the world come here to see this sight.

3. Yellowstone National Park, the USA

It is the first national park in the USA. It has mountains, forests, lakes and hot springs. One of the most famous animals here is the black bear.
