Western Pacific Sees 31 Typhoons This Year
So far this year, 31 typhoons have formed in the western Pacific and the South China Sea. That ties the record set in 2013. On average, only about 25 typhoons form there each year.
Many people think more typhoons should mean more storms hitting the land. But this year, only a few made landfall, so the damage was not much bigger. Experts say warm sea water helped typhoons form. Parts of the Pacific were warmer than 30 degrees Celsius in summer. In November, a new typhoon can still form, but it will probably turn away and not hit Guangdong.

British Man Walks Home for 28 Years
Karl Bushby, a 57-year-old British man, walked back to his home in England on November 2. His journey took 28 years! He started in 1998 from Punta Arenas, Chile, at the southern end of South America.
He made one rule for himself: no cars, no planes, no boats — only walking. He walked about 50,000 kilometers through about 30 countries. He crossed deserts and rainforests, and even met a polar bear. On the way, many kind people gave him food and help. Now his father, his brother, his son and his mother are waiting for him at home. 'Every country treated me well,' he said.
