Text 1
W: Can I take a look at this phone?
M: Of course, madam. It is the best seller in our store, and it takes very clear photos.
Text 2
M: Jane, where’s your mom? It’s 5 o’clock. We should set out now or we’ll be late for the
movie.
W: Oh, Dad! Take it easy! There are still 30 minutes left. Mom said she would be back in 10
minutes.
Text 3
W: Hi, Bob. How are your new shoes? I hear you are ready to return them to the shop.
M: I bought them because they were the only pair in my size. But they’re not that good. I
wore them for a while and found the color inside made my white socks blue.
Text 4
W: Good morning, sir! I’m on Heping Road. The morning rush hour is almost over but the
streetlights on both sides aren’t off.
M: Thank you for your message. I will report it to the relevant department.
Text 5
W: Look at this sword. It dates back to the 13th century but it’s still sharp.
M: Yes, it’s said that it belonged to a king and was used in a lot of wars.
W: Maybe. Hey, here is a protective hat. Look! It’s broken on the right side... by a sword
probably?
Text 6
W: Look, Jamie.
M: Oh, the sales department always goes to a party on the first and third Wednesday of each
month. How I wish I could do that too!
W: No way. We still have a lot of work in hand.
M: Fine. By the way, are you interested in basketball? I’ve got two tickets to the basketball
match this weekend.
W: Really? I’d like to go with you. And in return, I’ll treat you to dinner at the newly opened
restaurant after work.
M: Wow, fantastic!
Text 7
M: Look at Paul’s new motorbike. It looks nice!
W: I’ve seen it on the Internet before. But in our town this must be the only one.
M: No, I saw another one parked near the piano bar the other day. And Andy has one too, but
his is very old and doesn’t look that shiny.
W: This one looks great. I think it can even take two people. There’s a lot of space behind the
rider. Does it make much noise?
M: It depends. If you start it at speed, it sounds like a lion.
Text 8
M: Hi, Mia. Welcome back! How was your business trip with Bella?W: Well, I think we had some useful talks, but the result was below expectations.
M: Oh, that’s disappointing. What company were you talking to and what was the deal you
were looking for?
W: It was the Atlanta Corporation in India. We have been looking forward to becoming the
only partner in Britain for its products. The talks seemed quite good on the first day, and we
were pretty sure the deal was ours.
M: Hmm...So what went wrong?
W: Nothing went wrong, as far as we could see. But the next day, the representatives of the
company told us that they needed to think it over. And just before we left, someone told us
that one of our competitors arrived at the company on the same day.
M: I see. So they were talking to your competitor while they were talking to you.
W: It seemed so. I’m not sure where things will go.
Text 9
W: Sunshine Hotel. How can I help you?
M: I’d like to book a room, please. Do you have any rooms available next Friday?
W: Certainly, sir. How long will you be staying?
M: Five nights.
W: Well, we have single rooms, double rooms and king rooms available. Which do you prefer?
M: Er... I’d like a double room, please.
W: Do you have any other special requests?
M: Yes. I prefer a room with a view and facing south. I enjoy being bathed in the sunshine.
W: I’m afraid we only have king rooms like that at that time. Is that OK?
M: No problem. How much does it cost?
W: $70 per night.
M: That’s fine. By the way, if I check out ahead of time, can I get the money back?
W: Of course, sir. May I have your name, please?
M: My name is Jason Green. I couldn’t feel more content with your service.
W: Thank you. Have a nice day!

M: I am going to give a talk about my career choice. After finishing high school, students
have different options. They can go to university, or they can find a job and help their
parents. As for me, I would like to go to university. I am really interested in tourism and want
to become a tour guide in the future. There are some reasons why I want to choose this job.
First, I like traveling and sightseeing. I think this kind of job gives me such an opportunity to
go around. Besides, I am good at geography, history and English and very sociable too. All of
these qualities contribute to making me a good tour guide. Last, tourism is actively
developing and it will be easy for me to find a job. My parents advise me to become a dentist
or a teacher, but I’m not sure whether these jobs are appropriate for me. However, I do
believe my parents will support my career choice finally. That’s all I want to say about my
career choice. Thank you for listening.
