Because of the stresses of high school, I felt depressed from time to time. What was worse, I began to eat many junk foods. As a result, I had gained a lot of weight. My mom decided to take me to work out, and she cooked delicious and healthy snacks for me. However, I broke my word and bought high-calorie snacks. My mom found my snack wrappers in the garbage. She got really angry and told me something I will remember forever. She said, “My dear, I can forget the fact that you cheated, but you shouldn’t. Remember it’s not all about losing weight but about your whole life. If you want to achieve something, take it seriously, and persist (坚持) no matter what happens.” Since then, we have been out running each morning, and we do some yoga in the evening. We sing and laughwhile running along the empty roads. Day by day, I am feeling better. Exercise is helping to strengthen my body and refresh my spirits. At the same time, my mom and I cook different dishes together. Isn’t it amazing that I’m making such tasty-looking foods myself? Cooking brings great joy to me. These times with my mom have changed my whole attitude to life. I have started to learn the importance of sticking to goals and how to relax. And because the world is more digital, those who lack basic Internet skills will find it more difficult to take part in the formal economy, to get a quality education, and to have their voices heard. Since 2013 the global gender gap (性别差异) in male and female about the Internet has actually increased from 11 to 12 percent. Worse yet, women and girls living in the poorest countries are 31 percent less likely than men and boys to surf the Internet. In developing countries, some 200 million fewer women than men own a mobile phone, the most common means of surfing the Internet there. This digital divide is increasing, and if it continues at the present pace, it is predicted that over 75 percent of women and girls will lack Internet access and digital skills. There are many causes of the digital gender gap. They include girls’ exclusion (排斥) from basic education, from specific technology education and high costs of mobile phones and Internet access. Indeed, one of the so-called reasons why girls may be discouraged from learning how to access and use digital technology is also a groundless (毫无根据的) one: that girls are simply not good at using technology. Without the help of the government, most of the benefits of technological change will be enjoyed only by men, making gender inequality even more serious. 28.What can we know from Paragraph 1? A.Girls usually don’t like to share their ideas. B.Girls don’t have enough digital knowledge. C.Boys are more interested in making money. D.Boys always receive advanced education. 29.How does the writer make his statement in Paragraph 2? A.By listing numbers. B.By giving reasons.C.By following the time order. D.By giving examples. 30.What is the writer’s attitude to the idea that girls are simply not good at using technology? A.Positive. B.Acceptable. C.Negative. D.Uncaring. 31.What is the main idea of the passage? A.Girls are lacking in education. B.Women suffer a lot from poor economy. C.Internet continues to develop fast and fast. D.Girls are at a disadvantage compared with boys in digital technology. D Millions of people around the world, including nearly 60% of Americans, Australians and Europeans, participate in sports. Lack of physical activity is estimated to cause more than 5 million early deaths a year. To reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes (糖尿病), cancer and a number of other diseases, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends adults and older people engage in physical activity for at least 150 minutes a week. Adults participating in a high overall level of sports and exercise are at 34% lower risk of death than those who never or rarely engage in such activities. But does it make a difference which physical activities we do? To strengthen the evidence on health benefits of six common sport disciplines—aerobics (有氧运动), cycling, football, racquet (球拍) sports, running and swimming --we recently analyzed data from 80,306 British adults. The study found 27%, 15%, 47% and 28% reduced risk of death for participants in aerobics, cycling, racquet sports and swimming. Although we observed reductions in the risk of death associated with football and running (18% and 13%) in our study sample, the data did not allow us to draw conclusions about these effects across the whole population. These associations should not be misunderstood as “no association” or “evidence of no effect”. We simply do not know whether the observed effects in the sample occurred by chance alone or reflect the true effects in the population. It may take decades until we reach definite conclusions about health outcomes of all types of sports. Should you in the meantime sit in front of the TV and wait for researchers to announce the final results? No! Follow your preferences and select an affordable and easily accessible sporting activity you enjoy doing, while trying to reduce the risk of injury. 32.How long should an adult exercise every day according to WHO? A.At least 21 minutes. B.At least 25 minutes. C.At least 30 minutes. D.At least 35 minutes. 33.What did the study find according to Paragraphs 3 and 4? A.Football and running had no effect. B.Running is the best form of exercise. C.Racquet sports are the most effective in reducing the risk of death. D.Aerobics is more popular than running.34.What does the author advise us to do in the end? A.Participate in racquet sports. B.Choose whatever sport you like. C.Participate in running and swimming. D.Choose whatever sport that’s beneficial. 35.What would be the best title for the text? A.The Benefits of Playing Sports B.Different People, Different Sports C.Which Sports Are Best for Health? D.Why Do People Engage in Sports? 第二节:(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Many students wonder how to study well in high school. If you don’t study hard, one day you will have to be busy looking for a job every day like Tom. M: Yes, I know, but I can’t accept your opinion. (Text 9) M: Someone came late last night looking for you. I told him you were out and I suggested that he leave a note, but he didn’t. W: Late last night? That’s strange. What did he look like? M: He seemed to be about thirty or somewhat older. Maybe forty or so. W: Was he tall or short? M: Mmm…He wasn’t very tall or very short. About average height, I think. W: Was he fat or thin? M: A bit on thin side, if I remember correctly. Anyway, certainly not fat, but then he wasn’t very thin either. W: Was there anything unusual about his looks? What kind of face did he have? Round or square or long? M: Let me think… It was rather square, but not so very. Or was it? Really, I didn’t notice. It was so late and thelighting was not good. W: Was he wearing glasses? M: I’m not sure now. You see, I was so tired and sleepy that I didn’t pay much attention. (Text 10) Now it is time to welcome all the newcomers to International English School. You are all here to improve your business English skills. This weekend, which is your first in London, we’ll offer to help you familiarize with your new surroundings in an unusual and exciting way. So, starting with Friday, in the morning we thought you’d want to visit the city. We know that some of you have already visited a few museums in the neighbourhood, so we’ve organized a visit to one for those who are interested. At 3 pm, we’ve planned games that will help you get to know your fellow newcomers. You will all be rather tired after dinner so we thought you might like to see a film at 7 pm, which is free only to all International English School members. On Saturday we have organized a day trip to visit the historical city of Bath for the boy students. We will set off at 10 am, on board a bus we have hired for the day. Everything will be provided for you including lunch. Now on Sunday, we’ve left it up to you how you spend the day, both in the morning and the afternoon. OK, that’s all for now. Thank you.
