必修第一册 Unit 3 Family matters Ⅰ.阅读理解 A(★) When I was about six years old,my mother came home one day and found that I had collected half a dozen babies of the neighbourhood—all of them too young to walk—and had them sitting before me on the floor while I was teaching them to wave their arms. When she asked the explanation of this,I informed her that it was my school of dance. She was amused, and placing herself at the piano. She began to play for me.This school continued and became very popular.Later on,little girls of the neighbourhood came and their parents paid me a small sum to teach them. This was the beginning of what afterwards proved a very profitable occupation. My mother took me to a famous ballet teacher, but his lessons did not please me.When the teacher told me to stand on my toes(脚趾) I asked him why,and when he replied “Because it is beautiful,” I said that it was ugly and against nature and after the third lesson I left his class, never to return. This stiff(僵硬的) and commonplace gymnastics which he called dancing only disturbed my dream.I dreamed of a different dance.I did not know just what it would be,but I was feeling out towards an invisible world into which I guessed I might enter if I found the key. My art was already in me when I was a little girl, and it was owing to the heroic and adventurous spirit of my mother that it was not prevented.I believe that whatever the child is going to do in life should be begun when it is very young.I wonder how many parents realize that by the so-called education they are giving their children , they are only driving them into the commonplace, and taking away from them any chance of doing anything beautiful or original. 1.What was the writer doing when her mother came home one day? A.Teaching some babies to dance. B.Directing some babies to walk. C.Getting some babies together. D.Making some babies sit still. 2.How did the writer find the ballet? A.Old and unpopular. B.Ugly and unnatural. C.Graceful and original. D.Dreamlike and gymnastic. 3.What did the writer think she owed her success in art to? A.The ballet classes she had attended. B.Her inborn talent and great efforts. C.The lucky chance her parents gave her. D.Her mother’s support and understanding.4.What’s the main idea of the text? A.Children should be encouraged to be educated as early as possible. B.Children should be driven to develop their interest in art at an early age. C.Parents should discover and develop their young children’s natural gift. D.Parents should instruct their children to decide on a promising occupation. B(★) In today’s rapidly changing society, children are increasingly seeking independence and pursuing their own interests. However,as parents, you ought to take care of your own children and have a better understanding of them in the following cases. Schoolwork becomes increasingly difficult as children grow up.So this is a time when some kids begin to do better in their schoolwork while others struggle to understand more advanced and more difficult lessons. When they get home, talk with them about their school lessons and find out what they don’t understand. It’s a chance for you to stay close with your children as before and get them to relax. For many families, homework can be a serious struggle. Many school-age kids are reluctant to sit down and study for a spelling test or complete their math homework. It’s natural for them to be bored with their homework, but you have to think of ways to help them form the right habit to finish their homework when they get home. Many children today lead busy lives filled with various extracurricular activities such as sports, music, and after-school programs. While these activities can be beneficial for their personal growth and development, parents should also be mindful of striking a balance and ensuring that their children engage in physical activities. In an era where screens and digital devices are prevalent, some children may be inclined to spend excessive hours indoors, leading to a sedentary lifestyle. As parents,it becomes crucial to encourage and motivate children to be physically active through outdoor play, team sports,or even regular exercise routines. Friends become a bigger deal for children during this time too.Attending birthday parties or playing with kids on the playground can be good for their development. Bullying(恃强凌弱的行为) can become a problem around this age. It’s important to talk to your child about kindness and respect so he doesn’t become a bully and it’s also quite necessary for you to talk about what he can do if he becomes a target. 5.What would happen with school lessons getting more difficult? A.Children are divided in their school lessons. B.Children have more homework to do at home. C.Parents have more chances to show themselves. D.Parents find it more difficult to teach their children. 6.What does the underlined word “reluctant” in paragraph 3 mean? A.Excited. B.Worried. C.Unwilling. D.Interested.7.What does the author advise school children to do? A.Spend more hours on the screen. B.Be active both mentally and physically. C.Organize parties at home and school. D.Bully other students at school. 8.Who are the intended readers of this text? A.Students. B.Teachers. C.Parents. D.Office workers. C Regenerative tourism is a concept that is gaining attraction in the travel industry. It is different from sustainable tourism in that it goes beyond just minimizing the negative impact of tourism. It is a philosophy that aims to not only minimize the negative impact of tourism but also to actively contribute to the regeneration of local ecosystems, economies, and cultures. The concept of regenerative tourism is not new.Native communities around the world have been practicing regenerative tourism for centuries. However,it has gained renewed interest in recent years due to the growing awareness of the impact of tourism on the environment and the need for sustainable travel practices, particularly post-pandemic—indeed it could even be argued that,as the global tourism industry and those who depend on it start to recover, tourism in itself is a regenerative act. One example of regenerative tourism is ecotourism.Ecotourism involves traveling to natural areas with the aim of learning about and conserving the environment. It involves activities such as hiking , bird watching , and wildlife viewing.Another example of regenerative tourism is community-based tourism.Community-based tourism involves staying with local communities and participating in their cultural activities, such as our Buffalo Curd Experience in Sri Lanka,or our Rice Wine Trek in Laos.Regenerative tourism can also involve the use of sustainable and regenerative practices in the tourism industry itself. For example, hotels can use renewable energy sources, reduce their water consumption, and use sustainable materials in their construction. The benefits of regenerative tourism are many. However, carrying out regenerative tourism practices requires a shift in mindset and a commitment to sustainability. It requires tourism businesses to not only minimize their negative impact but to actively contribute to the regeneration of the environment and communities. It requires tourists to be conscious of their impact and to choose travel options in line with their values. In conclusion, regenerative tourism is a promising concept that has the potential to transform the travel industry.By actively contributing to the regeneration of local ecosystems, economies, and cultures, regenerative tourism can create a better future for both people and the planet. 9.What is the aim of the regenerative tourism? A.To attract more investments. B.To highlight the advantages of tourism.C.To protect conventional economy and culture. D.To promote a renewable and sustainable tourism. 10.Why has the regenerative tourism regained public interest recently? A.Tourism industry has globally boomed. B.People have suffered from the pandemic. C.People show more concern about environment. D.Regenerative tourism has been practised for long. 11.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about? A.The definition of ecotourism. B.The illustration of regenerative tourism. C.Environmental conservation practices. D.Reasonable doubts about regenerative tourism. 12.What might the writer agree with according to the last two paragraphs? A.Regenerative tourism has a bright future. B.Tourists can choose whatever travel they like. C.Travel industry is able to transform regenerative tourism. D.Regenerative tourism can be practiced in traditional ways.
