Last weekend, my family decided to have a yard sale to clear out old things. As I helped Mom
sort through boxes in the garage, I found a dusty wooden box labeled “Lily’s Childhood.” Inside
were toys, a faded sweater, and a storybook with my name scribbled on the cover.

Lagoon, on the east coast of Florida. Two teachers found it while picking up litter. A brown piece
of paper was rolled up inside it.
They almost threw it away, but then, they met Katie Carrmax and her family. The teachers
gave the bottle to Katie. Her 6-year-old daughter was interested in solving the mystery(谜) of the
message in the bottle.
By the next week, after searching online and making several phone calls, the family mailed the
message back to its owner, Troy Heller. He threw it into the ocean 37 years ago.
Heller wrote the message on paper while he was on vacation, telling its future finders: “Call

“Believe in yourself.”“It's okay to be different.”These are a few of the encouraging messages that callers can hear when they call the PepToc
Hotline(热线).It is part of an art project created by teachers Jessica Martin and Asherah Weiss with
students at West Side School in California. The hotline took off after it started. People called from
around the world.
This was a surprise.“At first, we wanted this project to be just for our little town,”Martin
said. The town had been through a hard time because of the wildfires and the pandemic. But her
students were tough and stayed happy.
The PepToc project has two parts. One part is inspirational(鼓舞人心的)posters. Students put
them up around town. There were more than150 posters. “Kids just ran with it,” Weiss says. The

The Endurance is one of the most famous shipwrecks(沉船) in the world. In 1914,ErnestShackleton and 27 people left England in the Endurance. Shackleton hoped to become the first
to cross Antarctica. However.in 1915.the ship got trapped(困住) in the ice over the Weddell Sea
before they got there. Later, it went down. Luckily, Shackleton and his team lived.

In 2012, Gao Song, my schoolmate at Renmin University of China, interviewed（采访）
nearly 100 students. The interviewees were all about 20 years old and life was 1 of
