The world’s most special apple tree
世界上最特别的苹果树Today let’s look at a strange apple tree. The city of Krolevets, in Ukraine, is home to the world’s most special
（特别的）apple garden. There is only one tree in the garden. It is as big as 10 acres（公顷）, and the tree has the
history of 220 years. How did this tree grow so well?
At first, the tree was a common tree and had no difference from other trees. But as it grew up day by day, its
branches fell so low to the ground and they started to take root as well. During the season, its pink flowers can only
be seen on half the tree, but the other half rests. Its apples are medium-size （中等大小）and they taste very
sweet. This is very strange, isn’t it?
It is said that the tree was planted by Prince Peter Sergeev of the Meshchersky royal family.
When he died, the tree was so sad for him and its branches fell to the ground and finally grew into a big apple
tree. The prince was buried（埋葬）under his favorite apple tree in 1848, and we are still able to see his gravestone
（墓碑）today. Another story tells us that the prince planted an apple tree on the grave of his wife who died when
she was still young.
In 1972, the tree became a national treasure. And now it is a national pride of the country. Would you like to
see this tree? Let’s go together when we are free.

Young people can have problems with their minds. Some students become worried because they have to
study very hard. Others have trouble getting on well with people like their parents and classmates.
Liu Wei, a junior 2 student from Zhengzhou, could not understand his teacher and was doing badly in his
lessons. He became so worried about it that he started to cut his finger with a knife.
Another student, 14-year-old Yan Fang from Guangzhou, was afraid of exams. She got very worried in one
