Many children don’t like to talk with other children but their parents are proud of (以……自 豪) them because they are good at using a phone,” said Colin Kinney, a teacher. Many children spend too much time staying at home and quietly playing with a smartphone. If children do not know how to stay with others, it can become difficult for them to learn how to make friends when they get together. It is important to know how to use smartphones in today’s world, but it is more important for children to learnhow to make friends with others. If they do, they can live happily when they grow up. Teachers should help their students know how to live happily. 1. The city of Krolevets, in Ukraine, is home to the world’s most special (特别的)apple garden. There is only one tree in the garden. It is as big as 10 acres(公顷), and the tree has the history of 220 years. How did this tree grow so well? At first, the tree was a common tree and had no difference from other trees. But as it grew up day by day, its branches fell so low to the ground and they started to take root as well. During the season, its pink flowers can only be seen on half the tree, but the other half rests. Its apples are medium-size (中等大小)and they taste very sweet. This is very strange, isn’t it? It is said that the tree was planted by Prince Peter Sergeev of the Meshchersky royal family. When he died, the tree was so sad for him and its branches fell to the ground and finally grew into a big apple tree. The prince was buried(埋葬)under his favorite apple tree in 1848, and we are still able to see his gravestone (墓碑)today. Another story tells us that the prince planted an apple tree on the grave of his wife who died when she was still young. In 1972, the tree became a national treasure. And now it is a national pride of the country. Would you like to see this tree? Let’s go together when we are free.
