    After plenty of tries and failures, he succeeded in developing hybrid rice. His great work helped feed millions of people around the world. What impresses me most is that he remained simple and modest even with huge achievements.

     Yuan Longping has passed away, but his spirit lives on. I learn that perseverance and self‑devotion matter a lot. I will keep working hard and never give up when facing difficulties in my daily study.

The Person I Admire Most

    Yuan Longping is the person I admire most. He is widely called the “Father of Hybrid Rice”.

    In his youth, he witnessed the pain of hunger. To solve this serious problem, he threw himself into rice research. For many years, he worked under hot sunshine in rice fields and got through lots of failures.

   Finally he created hybrid‑rice technology, which greatly increased rice production and saved countless people from hunger. He held two wonderful dreams: enjoying coolness under tall rice plants and making hybrid‑rice popular across the world. Though famous, he lived a plain life and cared little about fame.

   His stories teach me never to stop chasing my dream. Whenever I want to give up, I will think of him and keep moving forward.
