Long long ago, there was a king called Midas. He loved gold very much.
很久很久以前，有一位国王名叫迈达斯。他非常喜爱黄金。
One day he met an old man. The old man said, “Do you have a wish? I can make it come true.”
有一天他遇到一位老人。老人说：“你有愿望吗？我可以让它实现。”
“I wish for a golden touch,” said Midas. “I want to turn everything to gold!”
“我希望拥有点石成金的本领，” 迈达斯说，“我想把所有东西都变成黄金！”
“Are you sure?”
“你确定吗？”
“Yes. I am very sure.”
“是的，我非常确定。”
Midas turned everything around him to gold. He was happy. Then Midas was hungry. But all his food also turned to gold. His daughter came in. Midas took her hand. She turned to gold, too! Midas was very sad. He cried, “I don’t want gold now. I want food. I want my daughter back.”
迈达斯把身边所有东西都变成了黄金。他一开始很开心。后来迈达斯饿了，但是他所有的食物也变成了黄金。他的女儿走了进来，迈达斯牵起她的手，女儿也变成了金子！迈达斯十分难过，他哭喊着：“我现在不想要黄金了，我想要食物，我想要我的女儿回来。”
He asked the old man to get everything back again.
他请求老人把一切恢复原样。
“How much is it? I have so much gold,” asked Midas.
“需要花多少钱？我有很多黄金。” 迈达斯问道。
The old man smiled, “Just remember, gold isn’t everything.”
老人笑着说：“记住，黄金并不是一切。”
