I am one of only a small group of people I know who make a living directing or producing films. but I know
that there are a million other amazing creative people out there making beautiful work who I would love to meet
and maybe even work with.
Here are two technologies that have amazingly directed my creative life to where I want to see it go.
I use this first social platform not to just share my travel experiences, but to connect in person with other
travelers, great filmmakers, and interesting creative people I find when searching for my next place. I used
Instagram to meet with the people I have now adventured with.
I know some people are technology haters, but when used in the right way in this connected world, it can do
just the opposite. With the help of technology, you can meet people face-to-face and talk about your interests, and
most importantly, teach and learn from one another.
This next technology is the real faraway solution to staying connected. Being able to build a deep and
meaningful personal or business relationship just over the phone is challenging. Skype was the answer to so many
things for me in the last year.
The first time I used Skype was back in 2007 backpacking (背包旅行) around Europe. I decided to leave my
computer and phone behind and was able to use Skype to call home, friends and family. Since then, Skype has
evolved (逐渐演变) into a valuable business tool for me. I use it to set up meetings, reconnect with friends I meet
on adventures, and plan creative adventures with other travelers.
Without the combination of my two best technology friends. I would have never been able to be at the point I
am in my creative career, keep close friendships, and meet some of the most interesting people I would have never
come across otherwise.

Almost everyone has been called an imitator before It’s within human nature to feel inspired by someone’s
work. But we’ve also felt annoyed when someone calls our works his own. Many artists are feeling this same
annoyance with the recent rise in popularity of Al art generators.
Stable Diffusion, an Al art generator, allows users to type out descriptions of an image and the AI will generate
that image.
This is the case of Kelly McKerman, Karla Ortiz and Sarah Anderson, the three artists behind a recent lawsuit
(诉讼) against Al art generators. For McKerman, finding out that her art was an inspiration was initially exciting.
But she soon realized that the generator allowed anyone to create an original piece of art in her style, with no credit
to her. This realization made McKerman angry on behalf of all artists.
A world in which anyone can generate art in an instant creates a lessened need for independent artists. It’s also
harmful because Al art generators create art in specific artists’ styles in an instant with no credit to them, even
though it may have taken the artists hours to create the original piece. Art generators are not only unfair to current
artists, but they are also discouraging to potential future artists. As a person who has considered a career in art,
knowing that my work could be used in this way makes me hesitant about pursuing this route. This way of thinking
is not uncommon, which should be incredibly worrying.
Whether it be graffiti (涂鸦) to support a movement or a fine art piece about injustice, art is a vehicle for
social change. Furthermore, art is entertainment; animated movies could not exist without digital artists. Finally, art
contains great cultural and historical relevance.
The fact that art is essential means that it needs to be protected. Al art generators, like Stable Diffusion, are
threatening artists’ rights worldwide. Thus, government regulation and clarified protection of artists’ rights to theirwork is key to tackling this new world of AI generated art.

Amsterdam has long had a problem with people throwing away bikes in the city’s rivers. But now, people will
be able to park their bikes underwater and actually get them back thanks to a new underwater bike parking area.
The city is hoping to ease bike parking by adding thousands of bike parking spots under Amsterdam’s Central
Station.
The Open Haven Front storage is set to open on January 26 with free bike parking for up to 24 hours, and
inexpensive long-term options available as well. It also comes with easy access to the Central Station for those who
need to commute (通勤) by bus or train, plus easy on-foot access to work in the busy part of the city.
“It’s great that people can jump on their bikes, get to the station and continue their journey seamlessly.”
Jeroen Wienen, a spokesperson for ProRail, said of the project in an interview. “The Netherlands is a real cycling
country. A lot of people come to the station by bike, and we don’t want all those bikes lying around.”
This new underwater station took several years and more than 60 million Euros to build. The shelters will be
the largest in the city, with the Open Haven Front storage able to take 7,000 bicycles. To build the station, a lakehad to be emptied to make room for the underwater storage facility, but when you live in a country where there are
more bikes than people, finding a place to store them all is pretty important. In fact, another facility for an extra
4,000 bikes — cheaper at only 25 million Euros to build — also recently opened in Amsterdam. In recent years, the
city invested (投资) 85 million Euros in bike parking alone!
And perhaps more important than simply adding bike storage was the idea of closing the gap between cycling
and train travel. Making the two run smoothly together allows more people to cycle to the train station, rather than
driving to work.
