Sure, it's good to get along well with your teacher because it makes the time you spend in
the classroom more pleasant.
And yes, it's good to get along well with your teacher because, in general, it's smart to
learn how to get along well with the different types of people you'll meet throughout your life.
In fact, kids who get along well with their teachers not only learn more, but they're more
comfortable with asking questions and getting extra help. This makes it easier for them to
understand new materials and makes them do their best on tests. When you have this kind of
relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as
problems with learning or school issues (问题).
Here is a question:What if you don't get along with your teachers? In fact, teachers want
to get along well with you and enjoy seeing you learn. But teachers and students sometimes
have personality clashes (个性冲突), which can happen between any two people. If you show
your teacher that you want to make the situation better, he or she will probably do everything
possible to make that happen. By dealing with a problem like this, you learn something about
how to get along with people who are different from you.
However if a certain teacher isn't your favorite, you can still have a successful
relationship with him or her especially if you fulfill (履行) your basic responsibilities as a
student. Here are some of those responsibilities (责任):
Attend class ready to learn.
Be prepared for class with the right stationery, books, and completed assignments (作

A student had to get his long hair cut off in a middle school in Guangdong Province. It
was talked a lot among teachers and students.
In fact, all schools have their own rules. In most schools, boy students are not allowed to
have long hair while girls are not allowed to dye their hair. And most school rules say that
students should wear their school uniforms at school. And students must obey these rules so
that they can get healthy development at school.
But some students have disagreements. They think that boy students have long hair
doesn't mean that they are not good students. They want to show their own personality. They
think that they would look cool too if they had long hair and the hairstyles like their favorite
stars.
A girl student thought that she would look much more beautiful if she had brown hair. So
she had her dark hair dyed brown one day. When she went back to school the next day, the
teacher was very angry with her. She said that she worked hard at her lessons and did well in
every subject. She just didn't know why the teacher didn't allow her to dye her hair while
women teachers can.
It is not wrong for teenagers to love stars' hairstyles or wear their favorite clothes.
However, a school has its own rules for all the students to obey so that the school can be in
good order. Students should not break the rules at school.
28.What aren't boy students allowed to do in most middle schools according to this

31.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Hairstyles and clothes. B.Schoolboys and schoolgirls.C.Students and famous stars. D.School rules.

Sixteen years ago, I learned an important life lesson in the back of a New York City taxi.
I was on my way to Grand Central Station, and we were driving in the right lane when a
black car suddenly sped out of a parking space right in front of us.
My driver hit the brakes hard, skidded, and missed the other car by a few inches. The
driver of the other car, the man who had just nearly caused a huge accident, started shouting at
us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at him. He was really friendly!
“Why did you just do that?” I asked him. “This guy almost destroyed your car and
could have sent us to the hospital!”
This was when my taxi driver told me what I now call “the Law of Garbage Trucks”.
“Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of anger, and
full of disappointment,” he said. “As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it,
and if you let them do, they'll dump it on you. So when someone wants to dump on you, just
smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You'll be happier because of what you have done.”
I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often
do I take their garbage and dump it on other people—at work, at home, or on the street? It
was on that day that I said, “I'm not going to dump anymore.”
32.What happened when the writer was taking a taxi?
A.He saw a car accident. B.Another car almost hit the taxi.
C.The taxi driver was injured. D.Someone destroyed the taxi.
33.How did the taxi driver deal with the other driver's behavior?
A.He shouted back at the driver B.He sent the driver to the hospital.
C.He was friendly towards the driver. D.He dumped some garbage in front of his
car.
34.What does the taxi driver mean when he says “Many people are like garbage
trucks”?
A. Many people need to dump their feelings now and then.
B.Many people dump garbage wherever they like.
C.Many people are warmhearted and make others happy.
D.Many people like to drive garbage trucks.
35According to the passage, what should you do if people “dump garbage” on you?
A.Dump your garbage on him or her, too.
B.Try your best to encourage them not to do that again.
C.Tell them to dump their garbage in the right place.
D.Be friendly and go on with your own work.

When Mr. Moose announced the paper airplane contest, all the students were very

strongest. And I will be able to throw my airplane the farthest.”
However, another student, Brian, was thinking how he could win. He did not play
any sports and was not very strong. But he loved airplanes and really wanted to win
the contest.
Brian knew what he had to do. He went to the store and bought a big stack of
paper. When he got home, he took the paper into the backyard. He took a piece of
paper and folded an airplane. It didn't go very far, so Brian took another sheet and
folded another airplane and threw it. This airplane went a little farther. Brian kept
