Unit 6 Good Habits

This is the sixth unit of the sixth grade English book Making plans, which
requires students to talk about their vacation experiences based on the original English
knowledge and use the appropriate sentence patterns for skilled questioning and
description.

Step 1. Review
T：How often do you go fishing?
S：I go fishing about…….
Step 2. Warm-up
1. Listen and look.
2. Answer the questions:
(1) How often does Gogo pack his schoolbag?
(2) How often does Gogo eat?
(3) How often does he wash his face?
Step 3. Presentation
1.(1)T：Look，this is Jenny. In 7:00，she brushes her teeth, washes her face a nd
combs her hair. Then she goes to school at 7:30. She finishes her homework at
school. Then she packs her schoolbag.
In the evening, she hangs up her clothes, takes out the trash and cleans up the room.
What a busy day！
(2) After learning all the words，Ss read them in groups.
(3) Ss read them after the tape.
2. Target
(1) T(show three fingers)：How often does Jenny take out the trash?
S1：She takes out the trash three times a week.
T(show one finger)：How often does Gogo clean up his room?
S2：He cleans up his room once a year.
(2) Listen to the tape.

Step 4 Practice
1. Read, Listen, and check.
(1) As k the Ss to look at the pictures first.
(2) Listen to the tape.(3) Ask some Ss to tell their answers
(4) Check the answers.
2. Ask, answer and write.
T：How often does he take out the trash?
S: He takes out the trash four times a week.
Ss practice in groups.
Step 5. Reading and Writing
1. Turn to Page 70, This is Toto. Now reading with questions in Part 2. Then have
conversations with Ss according to the passage.
T: What good habits does Toto have?
S1：He usually does things right.
T： Good . What does he usually do in the evening?

T： Perfect. Is Toto wearing the right clothes when he goes to school today?
S3：No.

Step 6. Chant activity(Page 24)
1. Ask the Ss to listen to the song：How often do you help at home?
2. Ss follow the tape to sing the song.
3. After practicing several times，Ss sing together.
4. Ss finish the lyrics and T check the answers.
Step 7. Pronunciation
1. Chant: How often do you help at home?
2. T: How often do you pack your schoolbag?
S1: I pack my scho olbag every day.
(Write down “pack” and underline “ck”)
T: Look, this is a duck and this is a chick.They are yellow, not black.
(Write down “duck, chick, black” and underline “ck”)
T: Where is my sock？Oh，it’s on the c lock!(Write down “sock, clock” and underline “ck”)
T: What sound can you hear in the six word s？

3. Ss read in groups and then read together .
4. Listen and chant.
5. Ask Ss to ind more words with y sounds / aɪ /.
Step 8. Reading:
1.T: Look at the picture ,how can you have good teeth？Now readin g with
questions in Part 2.
I’ll give you ten minutes.
2.T: Times up. How often should you brush your teeth?
S1: Twice a day.
T: Good. What foods are good for your teeth?
S2: Vegetables and fruit.
T: Perfect. What foods are not good for your teeth?
S3: Chocolate and candies.
