Mary Kay was born in Texas in 1918. She married Ben Rogers when she was 17 years old. They had three

ended. To support her children, Mary Kay began selling different kinds of products. She visited people’s homes to
showhowhomecareproductshelpedeasehousework.Onenight,MaryKaywasshowingtheseproductsatthehome
of Ova Heath Spoonemore. Later, Mrs. Spoonemore gave her some homemade skin care products that were
developed by her father, J.W. Heath. Mary Kay tried the products and found they made her skin smooth. Mary Kay
wassuccessfulinsellinghomecareproducts.Butherbossneverincreasedherearnings.Sosheleftthecompanyand
wantedtostartherownbusiness.ShesignedacontractwithMr.Heathtobuytherightstohisskincareproductsand
foundedherowncompanyinTexasin1963.NowMaryKayCosmeticsisaninternationalcompanyworththousands
of millions of dollars. Mary Kay said women must discover how to be good wives and mothers while at the same
timelearninghowtosucceedinwork.
