第二节读后续写参考范文
Three months later, I signed up for a painting contest. Inspired by my daughter and my reborn
passion, I decided to participate. I worked on my half-finished lion and named it The Winged Lion, using
bright colors to show a magical world where childhood dreams never fade. Mia helped me add lovely
touches, cheering me on all the way. I poured my heart into every stroke, not for the prize, but for the pure
joy of creating. I submitted my work, wondering if my wild, warm creation could touch others’ hearts.
At the award ceremony, Mia held my hand tightly with excitement. Her eyes were shining brightly
as she gazed at my painting. Hearing my name was called for the prize, we both burst into happy smiles. My
painting was praised for its bright colors, true enthusiasm and childlike innocence. Looking at Mia and my
painting, I realized dreams never really die — they just wait for us to pick them up again. From then on, I
kept drawing with my girl, cherishing every magical moment we created together.

Text 1
W: Excuse me, is there a kid-friendly place in the library?
M: Of course! The second floor is fully for children — with books, games, and imaginative play.
Text 2
M: Hi Mum, it’s Paul. I left my sports bag at home and we’re playing volleyball later. Could you bring
it over to school? I don’t want to get into trouble!
W: No problem, but try to remember next time!
Text 3
W: Why did you change your major to biology? It’s quite challenging with all the experiments.
M: I want to be a doctor, and biology is important for that career, so it’s worth the effort.
Text 4
W: How much is a ticket for the art exhibition? I heard it’s interesting with modern works.
M: $10 for adults, half price for children over 12, and free for children under 12. I’m going there with
my thirteen-year-old son tomorrow.
Text 5
M: I’m really looking forward to Luke’s party on Saturday night. His brother’s band is playing there.
Are you going, too?
W: Well, my mum’s arranged for us to visit my grandparents that evening. Give Luke a big hug from
me.
Text 6
W: Mark, I heard you went to Myanmar after the earthquake. Did you go as part of an official medical
team?
M: Actually, no. I went independently with a group of volunteers. The earthquake left so many people
injured. Local hospitals urgently needed extra hands. We helped treat people who couldn’t get help before.
W: That must have been tough.
M: Yes. But when we saw the injured people walk again after treatment, we felt so happy. It made all
the hard work worth it.
Text 7
W: What do you need for your camping trip? That tent of yours is no good.
M: I know, Mum. I am going to look online and find another one.
W: OK. And your boots? You can’t wear those old ones — the ground will be all rough!
M: Just look at them! I doubt they’ll still fit!
W: Let’s replace them. And what about your sleeping bag? The nights will be cold.
M: Mine is torn at the bottom.
W: We’ll get you a new one then. And we’ll get you a proper flashlight. Not that toy thing you’ve got.
M: Oh, don’t worry about that! Dad’s lending me his. The light’s amazingly bright.
Text 8
M: Thanks for explaining that problem to me, Mrs. Wood.
W: It’s my pleasure. Oh, James. Hold on a minute. There is something I’ve been meaning to ask you.
M: What’s that?
W: In the past three weeks, you’ve started speaking up in class. You were so quiet last semester. What
made this change happen?
M: Well, I studied hard every day and I know more answers than I used to. In the past, I kept quiet
because I didn’t really understand the material.

W: I must say that I, along with several of your other instructors, am very impressed with how you’ve
changed recently. Be sure to keep up the good work.
M: Thanks for the vote of confidence. Anyway, I guess I should leave. I have a P.E. class now.
Text 9
M: What made you become a sports presenter, Maria?
W: I’ve always loved sports — like training the women’s football team at college. A guy who worked
for a newspaper came to interview me, and he suggested I make a good sports presenter. That’s where I
started. Then I did a tour of a television studio to see what it was like.
M: I see! How did you prepare for your first time on live TV?
W: I was nervous! I went for a long run, which made me feel calmer. Afterwards, I felt really
uncomfortable seeing the recording of myself, although I’m used to it now.
M: What are your concerns when appearing on TV?
W: For me, it’s suddenly not knowing what I’ve planned to ask next when I’m talking to sportspeople.
Some presenters make mistakes when they’re trying to say long names and things, but that hasn’t happened
to me.
M: I hear you’re doing a new TV program soon.
W: Yes. I got the idea from watching kids in my hometown doing amazing new sports like underwater
basketball. So I’m going around the country, having a go at some of these activities.
Text 10
Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s Playing. A new play, The Calling, is scheduled to open to the
public tomorrow. I was part of a group of critics who were invited to watch yesterday’s final rehearsal before
the official opening. The Calling is about a young boy growing up in southern Texas, who has a love of
movies and acting. After traveling across the country for many years, he finally finds himself in Los Angeles,
where he hopes to fulfill his dream of becoming a star. Unfortunately, the storyline feels old, and there are no
surprises to save the day. The only positive aspect is the performance of newcomer Kevin Winston. Winston
has appeared in a few short films, but he makes a strong impression in his first stage performance. He can’t
save the whole play, but he does provide some hope for good things to come. For our listeners who still want
to see The Calling, you can buy tickets by visiting the website.
