Have you ever asked your relatives or friends if there is Wi-Fi in their houses? Have you ever
searched for Wi-Fi when you are at restaurants or hotels? The answers will probably be “Yes”.
Most of us want Wi-Fi everywhere as if we can't live without it. But we can only use free Wi-Fi in
some public places. We still have to spend some money accessing( ) the Internet at most time.
Here comes a piece of good news.
A rich, powerful organization in the USA called the Media Development Investment
Fund(MDIF) has decided to change the age of online computing( ) completely by giving free
Wi-Fi to every person on Earth. They will send up hundreds of satellites into low Earth orbit(
) in 2015.
This is because they have made a survey and found that only 60% of the world's population
have been able to get information on the Internet. And this is also because many countries are
unable to offer people the necessary infrastructure( ) to access the web.
We can expect to use free Wi-Fi everywhere in the near future.

A life coach is somebody who helps you reach all kinds of personal and professional goals(
). Each of us has the ability to be our own life coach. Here are some tips for you:
Pay attention to your relationships with othersAsk yourself the following questions:How do you deal with disagreements? When was the
last time you showed your family members that you care for them? Your relationships with
friends, family members and teachers show a lot about what kind of person you are.
Face the fears about the future
Now,imagine that one of your good friends told you that he or she was not strong enough to
go back to school. 3We often give better advice than we are willing to take ourselves. Remember
that even the most successful people were probably told that what they wanted to do was
impossible, but they followed their dreams and succeed.
Develop your talents
If you want to reach your goals, you will have to spend more time developing the talents you
already have, and uncovering any hidden talents that you haven't discovered yet. So you can take
classes in subjects that you are interested in,even if you have no experience.
Be thankful
Take some time to be thankful for the things you do have. Remember positive memories.
4Think of the best day(s) you have had in the past months or years. Remember special
parties, vacations and holidays. Appreciate the wonderful people you have in your life.

Passage 1(2014· )
Much meaning can be conveyed( ) with our eyes,so it is often said that eyes can speak.
Do you have such kind of experience? In a bus you may look at a stranger, but not too long. And if
he is sensing that he is being stared( ) at,he may feel uncomfortable.
The same is in daily life. If you are looked at for more than necessary, you will look at
yourself up and down to see if there is anything wrong with you. If nothing goes wrong, you will
feel angry toward other's stare at you that way. Eyes do speak, right?
Looking too long at someone may seem to be impolite and even rude. But things are different
when it comes to stare at the opposite sex. If a man stares at a woman for more than 10 seconds
and refuses to turn his eyes away from the woman, his purpose is obvious. That is,he wishes to
attract her attention,to make her understand that he is admiring her.
However, the normal eye contact for two people during a conversation is that the speaker will
only look at the listener from time to time;in order to make sure that the listener is paying attention
to what the speaker is speaking,to tell him that he is interested.
If a speaker looks at you continuously when speaking,as if he tries to control you,you will
feel uncomfortable. A poor liar( ) usually looks too long at the victim, because he believes
that looking straight in the eye is a sign of honest communication.
In fact, continuous eye contact only happens between two lovers, who will enjoy looking at
each other gently for a long time,to show feeling that words cannot express. Obviously, eye contact
should be done according to the relationship between two people and the proper situation.Eyes can talk in our daily life. A lot of feelings can be conveyed to others with our eyes.
There are a lot of facts to prove it.
, ,
You may feel 1 if you are stared at for more than necessary. And you wonder if there is
anything wrong with you. If not,you will feel very angry.
When staring at the opposite sex:Looking too long at a woman you 2 means that you
want to attract her attention. And most of time, continuous eye contact is just for two lovers.
When having a 3 with others:If the speaker looks at the listener at 4 during the
conversation,it's a normal eye contact. If the speaker is a liar, looking straight in the eye too long
isn't a sign of honest communication.
So remember to look at others at the 5 time. If not,it will make others uncomfortable.
Passage 2(2014· )
Everyone has their dream. They give us courage and confidence to keep us going through
difficulties. (1)Here is some advice on how to realize our beautiful dreams. Never giving up is the
key to making our dreams come true. We may fail from time to time, but we can learn from
failure, correct our mistakes and try again until we achieve our goals. For that reason,no matter
what difficulties we meet,we won't fail unless we give up our hopes. Our life is like a long journey
which is not all roses. It sometimes has wind and rain. We believe rainbow will appear after
storms. (2)We will realize our dreams at last if we do our best. Cooperation is also necessary.
(3)Everyone likes a person who is good at cooperating with others. (4) ,
, Each of us is like a part of a machine. If one part
isn't in order, the machine can't work well. It's hard for a person who is away from the society to
have a deep understanding of the world. Cooperation is becoming one of the most ways for people
living in the developing society. As a saying goes “One tree doesn't make a forest.” At the same
time,we should learn to examine our abilities because it helps us know about our advantages and
disadvantages as well as get a full control of ourselves. Then we may be confident enough to face
challenges. Follow the suggestions above, and our dreams are sure to come true.

Passage 3(2014· )
Now students' English handwriting gets worse and worse. That makes their teachers feel
worried. Is your English handwriting beautiful? If not, here are four steps that really work!
Use paper that has lines
Using paper that has lines can keep you writing straight when you write English words or
sentences. Those lines on the paper can help you to write words in the right size. Be sure to fill the
lined space completely. And make sure those capital letters( ) are written properly.
Slow down
If your writing is hard to read, try slowing down a little. For some kids, going slower makes
the handwriting clear. If you write too fast,it's hard for you to stop where you should, and even
worse,you may make more mistakes.
Hold your pencil right
When you hold your pencil the correct way, writing is much easier. Some kids press( , )
down really hard when they write. That makes the handwriting not nice. Try to relax yourself and
don't hold the pencil so hard. Let your writing appear nice and clean. If you do so,people will
guess you are a student with a good habit.
Draw more pictures
Drawing can improve your handwriting. You need to use the skills to control your pencil
better when you are drawing pictures. Even though you have no chance to draw at school, you can
practice by yourself at home.
Handwriting is very important. Imagine you are a world-famous movie star or a well-known
sports player, what do you do when your fans run up to you? Give them your autographs(
),of course!, ,
Four 1 to make your handwriting beautiful Use paper 2 lines Using paper that has

Passage 4(2013· )
,
I have many hobbies, such as reading, skating, playing tennis and watching TV. But reading is
my favorite hobby.
I like reading for three reasons. First of all, books introduce me to a new world, which is
colorful and without time and space limit. Through reading,I can go back to ancient Egypt. I can
also go to the United States,a great land I have been longing to visit.
Secondly, reading can improve myself by showing me a new horizon( ). In the past few
years,I have got most of my knowledge from books. I have learned from many people by reading
about their ideas on science, politics, life and society.
Thirdly, reading can bridge the gap( ) between my dream and my goal. In order to
succeed in my career( ) in the future,I must keep reading, thinking and practicing. Reading has
become a part of my life. During the day,I spend some time reading books, newspapers and
magazines. At night,I can hardly go to sleep without a novel in my hand.

Passage 6(2013· )Do you find enough time for laughing? I'm not asking if you experience lots of good times.
Of course,we should laugh during the happy times. But do you also laugh during the difficult
times?
Erma Bombeck is known for her funny books. But she wrote one about a more serious
subject-cancer( ) in children. The book is titled,I WANTED TO GROW HAIR,I WANT TO
GROW UP. Erma talks with many children who have cancer and learns important lessons from
them. She learns, for example, that cancer survivors( ) know how they should smile at
life, though they are receiving chemotherapy( ).
She tells about the experience of 15-year-old Jessica. Jessica's leg was cut off at the knee
because of cancer. She was learning to wear a prosthesis( ). Jessica told about playing soccer.
She hit the ball hard with her foot. The ball flew off in one direction( ) while her man-made
leg flew another way. Then the brave girl lay on the floor, laughing happily.
As the saying goes( ),“There's a time to cry and a time to laugh.” Do you find
plenty of time to laugh? You can—if you find reasons to laugh during the difficult times.
