专题 10 任务型阅读
2022-2023 学年九年级英语上学期期末高分冲刺专练
一、多任务混合阅读
If you don’t know what your friends are doing, will you get anxious (焦虑的)? Fifty-one
percent of teenagers said yes when they were asked this question in a recent study. The fear
that “I’m absent while others might be having fun” is called FOMO—fear of missing out.
FOMO pushes you to check the social media more often. This can make you become
more easily affected by others. You may feel sad, lonely and bored if you start to experience
FOMO. So, what can we do to deal with it?
Change your focus
You should stop worrying about what you may be missing out on. Instead, try to focus
on (专注于) the good things you have already been doing. Use your spare time to do things
you enjoy, such as painting or playing soccer.
Keep a diary
By keeping a personal diary, you will learn to be more grateful for the great things you
have in your life. You will realize that you are the only one who has control over your life, not
the Internet.
Build up real connections
When you feel lonely, why not meet up with people in real life? Talking with your

Hearing that Erin was coming for the silver wedding party, Mr. Joe and his wife got
worried.

expensive than paper, would finally be found in his bag.”
“He’s sure to come for the presents we’ve received,” added Mrs. Joe. “We can’t hide
them all. How can we deal with him?”
“We must keep an eye on him,” said Mr. Joe.
As soon as Erin arrived, the couple started to keep a sharp lookout. After dinner, the
three talked nervously from one boring topic to another in the living room.
Suddenly, Erin asked, “You’ve got so many presents. Can I take a look at those pretty
silk scarves?”
“Only it’s annoying to have seven of them,” Mr. Joe blurted.
Erin studied the scarves carefully, lost in thought. The couple got more anxious.

“He must have taken something,” claimed Mr. Joe angrily. “The awful pig hasn’tbrought us a present. How dare he take anything from us?”
“Let’s go through his bag late at night,” Mrs. Joe suggested.
The search was a short one. They found a silk scarf carefully placed in the bag. Mrs. Joe

The next morning, Erin was late for breakfast. “Something’s been taken out of my bag,”
he said. “It was a present I had prepared for your silver wedding, only it happened to be a

Mrs. Joe returned with Erin’s scarf. “This one is yours,” she went on. “It’s an unpleasant
thing to say… Actually, we took it last night. It all started because there were some unkind
words about you. It’s really shameful to go through your bag without asking.”
Erin’s eyes widened as he was listening. Mrs. Joe handed the scarf to Erin.
“Please take your scarf back. It’s unfair to you. Really hope you can forgive us for
everything we did,” Mr. Joe said.
Erin refused the scarf with a smile. “It has always been for you. Please keep it. Just want

Chinese traditional painting and dance are two important parts of the art world. But what
about when they meet each other?
This year, a dance drama called Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape
Painting (《只此青绿》) was shown on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala. It became popular
overnight.
According to CCTV, this poetic dance got the idea from the 900-year-old Chinesepainting A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains (《千里江山图》). Created by Song
Dynasty painter Wang Ximeng at about 18, the painting is amazing in its sweeping size, rich
coloration and expressive details. It shows a Chinese blue-green landscape: “mountains and
groupings of endless rise and fall between cloudless sky and rippling water”.
A The dance shows the Chinese traditional beauty of the painting. The dancers
each had a different hairstyle, which looked like a mountain rock. B The clothes that
they wore were shades of green and blue, which is also poetic show of the mountains and
rivers. C When the dancers swayed beautifully, the audience seemed to be looking at
the moving mountains and rivers. D More than a thousand years later, green
mountains and rivers still wow people as they did long ago.

Remember books? With pages. In the old days before computers, to get information,
people read books and newspapers. Students spent hours and hours in the library, looking for
information in the old books for homework. Now students can find anything on the Internet in
seconds. The library was a place where everyone was quiet. Sing along to music? Never!
Watch a movie on phone while they are reading? Impossible! But now students can watch
videos about their research topic as they write a paper.
Before computers, articles were handwritten. If a student made a mistake, he or she
would throw the paper away and start writing all over again. Now? If a student makes a
mistake, he or she can just remove or cut it. Students type on their computers and edit (编辑)
freely. But they should save (保存) their writing in time on the computer because it may stop
working suddenly. Who wants to lose his or her hard work forever?
Communication online is easy and fun. While students are writing, they can discuss
with friends in another window. Did you think they were chatting (聊天) with someone in the
real same room? No! They’re chatting with everyone in their own room.
Technology helps us get important information in no time. In areas where bad weather is

(小寒)and greater cold.
Beginning of winter usually falls on November 7th or 8th. After beginning of winter,

December 7th or 8th. When winter solstice comes, it brings the shortest days of the year and
the longest nights. Many places around the country can expect the coldest weather yet. People
often start counting “nine cold periods” starting from winter solstice. Every cold period has
nine days. People believe that after 81 cold days, spring will come.

Remember books? The paper kind. With pages. In the old days before computers, to get
information, people read books and newspapers. Students spent hours and hours in the library, looking for information in the old books for homework. Now students can find anything on
the internet in seconds. The library was a place where everyone was quiet. Sing along to
music? Never! Watch a movie on phone while they are reading? Impossible! But now
students can watch videos about their research topic as they write a paper.

throw the paper away and start writing all over again. Now? If a student makes a mistake, he
can just remove or cut it. Students type on their computers and edit (编辑)freely. But they

In the future, people may travel to Mars by water-powered spaceship! Today’s
spaceships are fine for getting things into space, but they are not so good at travelling long
distances. These spaceships burn chemical fuels (燃料), and they are very expensive.
Scientists say that a water-powered spaceship could make the trip to Mars much cheaper.
Scientists think such a space ship could be developed soon.
The key to the water-powered spaceship is the engine. Regular engines push spaceships
by burning fuel. The water engine will use steam (水蒸气), created by solar panels (太阳能)
that heat water to a high temperature. Of course, the spaceship will have to carry a lot of
water for the long trip to Mars. Today’s space ships could not carry that much water. But
scientists think that a spaceship blown up like a balloon will be able to do it.
One US company has already developed a spaceship like this. These spaceships are
made of a strong material. Two of them have already been sent up into space, using rockets
and then later filled with air. “Balloon” space-ships could carry enough water for a long trip.
With the “Balloon” spaceships, enough water could be carried to power the engines and grow
food during the trip. And the people on the spaceship might even get to take a hot bath!
Scientists say the biggest advantage of such a spaceship would be the cost. The
“Balloon” spaceship uses water to push it through space and costs about one thirtieth of a
normal spaceship. If these scientists are correct, we may soon be on our way to Mars in the
special spaceship.
