Good morning, dear judges! I’m candidate No.X. Today my topic is “Living Legends” from Unit 3. Now let’s begin the class.
Step 1. Lead-in (1 min)Good morning, class! Look at the pictures on the screen. Who are they? Yes, Lang Ping and Michael Jordan. What do they have in common? (Pause) They are both great athletes, right? Today we’ll read a passage about them and find out why they are called “Living Legends”.
Step 2. Fast reading (1.5 min)Please skim the passage quickly and answer: What makes a sports star a “living legend”? (Pause) Lily, please. – “Master and example”, exactly! (板书:living legends – masters & examples)
Step 3. Careful reading and discussion (3 min)Let’s focus on Lang Ping. As a player, coach, and person, what challenges did she face? (Group discussion, 2 min)(模拟互动) Group 1 says she faced losing important players. How did she solve it? She encouraged the team. Group 2 adds that she never gave up. Yes! That’s the spirit – determination and leadership. (板书:Lang Ping – determination, leadership)
Step 4. Critical thinking (2 min)Now look at Michael Jordan. Why does the writer mention his “mental strength”? (默答) Tom, please. He says Jordan learned from failures and never stopped trying. Great! So being a legend is not only about skills but also about character. (板书:Jordan – learn from failures)
Step 5. Summary & homework (1.5 min)Today we learned what makes a living legend: excellent skills + strong character. Your homework: Write a short paragraph about a sports legend in your heart. Next class share.
