M: Weren't you scared?
W: A little, especially near the edge, but I stayed calm and focused on each step.

M: It's good to see hope after such a disaster.
W: Exactly, we'll rebuild and be stronger.

Text 10

Today, I want to tell you about a famous artist, Vincent van Gogh. Many people think he was French because he lived in France for a long time, but he was actually born in the Netherlands in 1853. As a child, he loved nature. When he started painting, he chose to use bright colors like yellow to show his strong feelings. One of his most famous works is called Sunflowers. During his life, Vincent was very poor, although he created about 900 paintings. He sold only one. At that time, most people didn't like his art. However, everything changed after he died. Today, millions of people visit museums every year because they think his art is truly special. He's now one of the most influential artists in the world.

根据第三段中的“However, a harsh test of social integration awaited him. In January 2026, keepers introduced Punch to the larger monkey group. His initial struggles were heartbreaking. Whenever fights broke out or he was scolded by adult macaques, the trembling infant went back to a corner, holding his “toy mother” tightly, ignored or left out by other monkeys.

Soon, the once-isolated figure was found happily chasing and embracing new playmates. 以及尾段中的“Like him, we may face rejection or isolation when entering new environments. Yet a path bravely walked becomes, in the end, the welcome itself.

Dear Editor,
I’d like to recommend an old fountain pen that was given by my grandfather on my tenth birthday for your column.
Though it looks plain, with a worn cap and faded ink stains, it means a lot to me. Firstly, it has witnessed my growth —every stroke records my progress in learning. Secondly, holding it, I can feel my grandfather’s warm encouragement, which comforts me whenever I face difficulties.
I believe that its story will certainly touch many readers.

Yours,

Li Hua

That night, Sarah sat on her bed, staring at the old photo of her and Lily. They were grinning at a middle school picnic, arms draped around each other. Tears blurred her vision. Yes, the story was hers, but the friendship? That was built together, summer after summer. She thought of Lily’s embarrassed face, her silence — maybe fear, not malice, had stopped her words. Sarah picked up her phone, typed a message, then deleted it. Too easy. She needed to say this in person, eye to eye, like they used to.
The next morning, Sarah found a note on her desk in the classroom.“I’m sorry. I was wrong. The story is yours; I should never have taken it. But Sarah — can we talk?” Sarah’s heart lifted. She spotted Lily hovering by the door, clutching her backpack straps. Sarah walked over, the note crinkling in her palm. “I overreacted,” she said quietly. “You can use any story of mine, anytime. Just ask.” Lily’s eyes welled up. “I withdrew from the competition,” she whispered. “I don’t want to win like this.” Sarah shook her head firmly. “Then we’ll both compete. With our own stories.” They clasped hands, the old warmth flooding back. Some victories, Sarah realized, aren’t about trophies at all.
