The moment I arrived at the school gate, Chloe appeared in exactly the same dress. At the
sight of this horrible turn of events, I was green with envy. “How ridiculous!” my heart sank. For
Chloe, getting such a dress was merely a piece of cake, while for me, I had to do it with all my
might. With a mixed feeling of rage and grief, I dashed home to tell my mother about this disaster.
“It’s unfair!” I exclaimed with fury, storming into my room and slamming the door before she could
respond.
Hearing me crying, Mum gently pushed open the door. “Honey, are you OK?” she walked up
to me, gathered me into her arms and tenderly wiped away my tears. “Look!” she pointed at the
shiny dress hanging in the most visible place, adding “Your dress is the most precious one because
you paid for it. Don’t you think so?” On hearing what she said, I felt much relieved. “Yes, you
earned it through hard work,” a firm and cheerful voice answered in my heart. Nothing could be
better than gaining the precious thing in that way!
