kind of twirling on his toes and lifting his hand and waving them over his head. He smiled in a way that I
hadn’tseenhimsmileinalongtime.
As daylight fadedaway and it gotdarker,mom sent her signal that the dinner was ready. The three
of us went through the garage and headed home for dinner. Dad patted us on the back of our heads, a
playful tap, and laughed heartily with a broad smile. It was nice to see Dad smiling again, as time he had
spentshootingbasketwith us revived him broughtback his ability to laugh alittle.Thanks to themagic of
thebasketball,wehelpedhimforgetabouttheworryinlifeforawhileandregainedtheenergy.
