Internet slang such as LOL (laughing out loud) enjoys great popularity among teenagers nowadays.
Students' opinions on this issue are divided.
Students who are in favor of it are in the majority. 35 percent of them hold the view that Internet
slang is vivid and fashionable. 33 percent of them decide that they can enjoy its humor and intelligence
when using it. In addition, 23 percent of the students believe it makes chatting on the internet more
convenient. On the contrary, a small number of them think Internet slang lacks depth of thought, and
it's too casual. Besides, it is hard for most people to understand and accept this kind of slang. If used
too much in a passage, it may confuse readers and even cause misunderstanding.
In my opinion, now we are living in the Information Age, so if we are not familiar with internet
slang, we're likely to fall behind.
【读后续写】20’
The little boy thought a little, stood between the blind man and the frail old lady, feeling
hesitant. Finally, he held the two special challengers' hands and started moving towards the winning
line together. The race began. He walked more slowly than any other race he had participated in
before. When they reached the finishing line, a great cheer went up from the crowd, which made
him confused instead of feeling proud and important as before. Then he went to the wise old man
in puzzlement.
"Old man, I don't understand! Who are the crowed cheering for? Which one of us?" asked
the little boy. "They're cheering for you, my little boy." the wise old man answered, smiling with
satisfaction. “Winning doesn’t mean everything. What really matters is the process to success but
not just the result." Lost in deep thought for a while, the boy thanked the wise old man for making
him realize the real meaning of success. From then on, he could be regarded as a truly successful
athlete.【解析】
