It was summer, and my dad wanted to treat me to a vacation like never before. He decided to take me on a trip to
the Wild West.
We took a plane to Albuquerque, a big city in the state of New Mexico. We reached Albuquerque in the late
afternoon. Uncle Paul, my dad’s friend, picked us up from the airport and drove us up to his farm in Pecos.
His wife Tina cooked us a delicious dinner and we got to know his sons Ryan and Kyle. My dad and I spent the
night in the guestroom of the farm house listening to the frogs and water rolling down the river nearby. Very early
in the morning, Uncle Paul woke us up to have breakfast. "The day starts at dawn on my farm," he said. After
breakfast, I went to help Aunt Tina feed the chickens, while my dad went with Uncle Paul to take the sheep out to
graze(吃草). I was impressed to see my dad and Uncle Paul riding horses. They looked really cool.
In the afternoon, I asked Uncle Paul if I could take a horse ride, and he said yes, as long as my dad went with me. I
wasn’t going to take a horse ride by myself anyway. So, my dad and I put on our new cowboy hats, got on our
horses, and headed slowly towards the mountains. "Don’t be late for supper," Uncle Paul cried, "and keep to the
track so that you don’t get lost!" "OK! " my dad cried back. After a while Uncle Paul and his farm house were out
of sight. It was so peaceful and quiet and the colors of the brown rocks, the deep green pine trees, and the late
afternoon sun mixed to create a magic scene. It looked like a beautiful woven(编织的) blanket spread out upon the
ground just for us.
Suddenly a little rabbit jumped out in front of my horse.

With no path to follow,Jane just walked on for quite a long time. After she had climbed to a high place. she turned
around, hoping to see the lake. To her surprise, she saw nothing but forest and, far beyond, a snowcapped mountain
top. She suddenly realized that she was lost.
“Tom! "she cried. "Help!"
No reply. If only she had not left her mobile phone in that bag with Tom. Jane kept moving, but the farther she
walked, the more confused she became. As night was beginning to fall, Jane was so tired that she had to stop for the
night. Lying awake in the dark, Jane wanted very much to be with Tom and her family. She wanted to hold him and
tell him how much she loved him.
Jane rose at the break of day, hungry and thirsty. She could hear water trickling (滴落)somewhere at a distance.
Quickly she followed the sound to a stream . To her great joy, she also saw some berry bushes. She drank and ate a
few berries. Never in her life had she tasted anything better. Feeling stronger now. Jane began to walk along the
stream and hope it would lead her to the lake.
As she picked her way carefully along the stream, Jane heard a helicopter. Is that for me? Unfortunately, the trees
made it impossible for people to see her from above. A few minutes later, another helicopter flew overhead. Jane
took off her yellow blouse, thinking that she should go to an open area and flag them if they came back again.

【广东省六校2024-2025学年高三上学期10月联考】In our cozy little house nestled at the end of a quietstreet, my sister Oscar and I were bustling (忙碌的) about, filled with anticipation for Mother’s Day. Our mother
Clare was the heart of our family. She was the type of mom who always put our needs first, sacrificing her own
desires for our happiness.
Growing up, we established a beautiful tradition that each year, we would surprise her with a special gift to
show our gratitude and love. This year, Oscar came up with a brilliant idea: “What if we made her a long and
beautiful dress?” she exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement. As I recalled, since the day we were born, Mom
hadn’t bought herself a beautiful new dress, so I knew we had to make this year’s surprise truly special.
With that thought in mind, we set to work. I grabbed my drawing book and began to design, my pencil
dancing across the page; while Oscar with her perfect sense of measurement and love for sewing. she got down to
handling the cloth. Her eyes shone with concentration, while I focused on the beautiful patterns on the dress. Soon,
the dress began to take shape — it was such a magnificent long dress, and we carefully wrapped it in gift paper.
But then came the question: where to hide it for the surprise to be revealed at dinner? We put our heads
together, brainstorming the perfect hiding spot. “Nobody would think to look in my bedroom closet.” I suggested
Oscar giggled, nodding in agreement, but we both neglected the fact that our two playful cats could be a problem.
Finally, the moment arrived. After dessert, I exchanged a knowing look with Oscar. It was time to unveil our
creation! We dashed to our bedroom together, my heart pounding in my chest as I flung open the closet door.

【2025届河南省信阳市高三第一次教学质量检测(一模)】In Maplewood High School, honesty was a
principle often discussed but not always practiced. Among the students, Emma Turner was known for her honesty.
She was diligent , always completed her homework on time, and was trusted by her peers (同龄人) and teachers
alike. She was also a model student, often helping others with their homework and organizing study groups. Her
reputation for honesty and hard work made her a natural leader in her class.
One autumn day, the entire school was excited. The annual science fair was approaching, and the students
were busy perfecting their projects. Posters, models, and experiments filled the classrooms as everyone worked
diligently. Emma had spent weeks on her project about renewable energy. She devoted herself to various
sustainable (可持续的) energy sources, conducted experiments, and created a detailed display to showcase her
findings. She was confident it would impress the judges.
Her best friend, Max, however, had struggled to come up with an idea. He had procrastinated (拖延) , unsure
of what topic to choose, and now the deadline drew near. Max admired Emma and felt guilty for not being
prepared. In a moment of desperation, Max decided to “borrow” an older cousin's project and present it as his own.
Max was sure that no one at Maplewood would know.
The day of the science fair arrived, and the gym was filled with colorful displays, excited students, and
curious parents. The air was thick with the smell of poster paint and anticipation. Emma’s display attracted a lot of
attention. Teachers, students, and even a local news reporter stopped by to ask questions about her innovative ideas.
She felt a sense of pride and accomplishment.
As she made her rounds to view other projects, she noticed Max’s project. Her heart sank when she realized
she had seen it before at a different fair years ago.

【重庆市南开中学2024-2025学年高三上学期第二次质量检测】Having recently transferred to the high
school, Emily felt like a ghost drifting through the hallways — unseen and unheard. Struggling to adapt to her new
environment, she found herself isolated. A group of popular girls, led by Jessica, frequently made fun of her. They
even threw insults at her intelligence, as if excelling in school was something to be ashamed of. To avoid adding
more stress to her already overworked parents, Emily bottled up her feelings, swallowing the daily suffering like
bitter medicine.
One gray afternoon, after the final bell had rung and the last echoes of chatter had faded, Emily found her
books and notebooks scattered in a dirty bin. With embarrassment burning her cheeks, tears welled up in her eyes,
blurring her vision as she knelt to gather her belongings. Just then, Lily, a classmate who had always noticed
Emily’s struggles but never intervened, approached and knelt beside her. “They’re just trying to feel better by
making others feel worse,” Lily said softly, her voice like a gentle breeze on a suffocating day. Then, she handed
Emily her notebooks, offering an understanding smile.
Though touched by Lily’s kindness, Emily still felt the shadow hanging over her. Jessica and her friends
tripped Emily in the hallways, pushed her in the lunch line, and even hid her gym shoes, laughing as she crazily
searched for them. Each incident added to the weight pressing down on Emily’s chest. She began pretending to be
sick, hoping to escape the torture that turned her school life into a daily nightmare.
In an English class, the teacher assigned an essay titled “My Wish”. Emily poured her heart into the
assignment and wrote about her longing for a true friend and the pain of feeling like an outsider, baring her soul on
the page, exposing the raw wounds and the bullying she had endured. The teacher, noticing the weight of her
words, realized what Emily had been going through. The school responded swiftly, taking measures to address the
effects of bullying and organizing counseling sessions to help Emily rebuild her confidence. Throughout this time,
Lily stayed by Emily’s side, becoming her pillar of strength.
