解决方案基本是以下途径: 1.encouragement(某人的鼓励的话) 2.comfort(某人的安慰) 3.inspiration(突然灵机一动) 4.effort(自己的努力训练) 5.calm(冷静思考) 6.kindness(某人的善良) 7.courage(勇敢做起来) 8.love(爱心,不过这个需要和move,patience结合,爱只是底子,还需要感化和耐心等待) 9.help(准确说是及时帮助) 当然这个解决方案(solution)可能是以上多种组合,譬如先平静下来(calm),然后有了勇气 (courage),最后有了动力(inspiration)。 第8步: 总结:点题,呼应前文 【2021年1月8日】 Pumpkin (南瓜) carving at Halloween is a family tradition. We visit a local farm every October. In the pumpkin field, I compete with my three brothers and sister to seek out the biggest pumpkin. My dad has a rule that we have to carry our pumpkins back home, and as the eldest child I have an advantage﹣I carried an 85﹣pounder back last year. This year, it was hard to tell whether my prize or the one chosen by my 14﹣year﹣old brother, Jason, was the winner. Unfortunately we forgot to weigh them before taking out their insides, but I was determined to prove my point. All of us were hard at work at the kitchen table, with my mom filming the annual event. I'm unsure now why I thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin would settle the matter, but it seemed to make perfect sense at the time. With the pumpkin resting on the table, hole uppermost,I bent over and pressed my head against the opening. At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then,as I went on with my task, unwilling to quit,my nose briefly prevented entry. Finally I managed to put my whole head into it, like a cork(软木塞)forced into a bottle. I was able to straighten up with the huge pumpkin resting on my shoulders. My excitement was short﹣lived. The pumpkin was heavy. "I'm going to set it down, now," I said, and with Jason helping to support its weight,I bent back over the table to give it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realized getting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. When I pulled hard, my nose got in the way. I got into a panic as I pressed firmly against the table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was no use. "I can't get it out!" I shouted, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the enclosed space. Paragraph 1 I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer. _____________________________________ Paragraph 2 That video was posted the day before Halloween. ________________________________________ 【参考范文】 I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer. My head span dizzily as if the world swirled. At my wit's end, I felt a stab of fear. (“我”的情绪:慌张、无奈)“Don't panic! Papa, Papa, we need your help," Jason exclaimed. In time over came my father.(借助外界帮助) He embraced my neck and pulled back with strength while Jason pinned/pressed down the pumpkin.(一 系列动作描写)It didn't work, though. (问题未解决)“Why not tear the pumpkin directly?" suddenly rang out mother's voice. ( 新 想 法 ) In a split second, a creak broke out overhead, followed by a ray of light, which I seemingly hadn't seen for ages. (问题得到解决)But what did I see? My mother was filming all the way. (衔接句) That video was posted online the Monday before Halloween. To my surprise, soon my video was followed by a sea of likes, my mailbox flooded with similar stories. (衔接句)My big red nose and my sore chin became netizens' favorite topic. A little embarrassed as I was, a wave of warmth welled upinside. (细节描写之我的心情)Then a good idea flashed across my mind. (想法)“Isn't it a good idea to share stories online to choose the funniest? " I told Jason, jumping with joy.(做法,为结局做铺垫) “Amazing! Let's call it Pumpkin's Competition. "Jason giggled. From Tiger to Goldfish Josh is my 10-year- old grandson. I love him so much that I find it very difficult to refuse any one of his requirements. Besides, he is good at persuading me. So, it’s really a big challenge to take him out sometimes. But now, I consider myself to be quite courageous. Perhaps that’s why I recently decided to take him to a fair. At the first ringtoss booth, Josh was absolutely certain that he could win that five foot-tall tiger because he told me he was a real expert at tossing rings. They had such kind of game played at school and he practiced a lot at school. He told me that he was often the winner of the ringtoss. The guy in the booth said, “You could buy one ring for 50 cents, or three for $ 1. But if you wanted a real bargain, you could get 20 rings for $ 5.” Of course, Josh said, “We should go for the bargain.” I thought about arguing with him by saying that an expert ringtosser like him would need only one ring. But I knew this was not an argument I was going to win. So I pulled out the $ 5 bill and placed it on the counter. Twenty rings later, he still didn’t have the tiger. “But now I see how to do this," Josh said. “Let’s buy another 20 rings, and I’ll get it this time.” Well, he never did get the tiger, but there were plenty more places where we could spend our money. Josh was equally unsuccessful at the next several booths. My wallet was getting thinner. And then we spotted the booth that Josh positively could not miss: the goldfish booth, All you had to do was toss a ping- pong ball into just one of the many fishbowls, and you could go home with your very own goldfish. As we got down to the last ball, I was secretly relieved that the goldfish would be staying at the fair. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________ The look of pure happiness on Josh’s face made the entire fair experience one to treasure. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________ 【答案】One possible version: As we got down to the last ball, I was secretly relieved that the goldfish would be staying at the fair. As I had expected, Josh missed every toss successfully. But wait! It was the last day of the fair, and the guy in the booth didn’t want to take those fish home. So he was giving them away to anyone who played. “You’re a winner!” he told Josh as he scooped a goldfish into a plastic bag filled with water and handed it over to Josh. The look of pure happiness on Josh’s face made the entire fair experience one to treasure. No amount of money can buy that joy. Josh decided that we could not spend another second at the fair. No, we had to rush home to get the fish into a proper tank because living in a plastic bag was not a good experience for this darling little creature, which he immediately named Goldie. 词汇激活 行为类 ①没投中:miss every toss/let slip every toss ②递给某人:hand sth. over to sb./pass sth. to sb. ③冲回家:rush home/hurry home 情绪类 ①高兴:joy/delight ②心爱的:darling/beloved 【点睛】[高分句型1] So he was giving them away to anyone who played. I want to plant all of the seeds today.” My father was calling to me. “I'm busy...” I said. I didn't understand why working in the dirt excited him so much. By the end of April, his plants had come up in neat rows. Unfortunately, in early May, my father was seriously injured in an accident. He was in hospital for about two months and during that time he often asked me about his garden. Even after he came home, he had to stay in bed for a while. My mother had several business trips so I said that I would take care of his garden. I assumed that the little plants would continue to grow as long as they had water, and luckily it rained fairly often so I didn't think much about the garden. One Saturday morning in July, my father said to me, “Christine, I think that the vegetables should be about ready to be picked. Let's have a salad today!” I took a bowl and went out to the garden. I looked at the leaves and was upset to see that many of the leaves had been half eaten. There were hundreds of bugs (虫子) all over them! I tried to get them off, but there were just too many. I looked at the carrots next, but they didn't look healthy. I got in panic for a moment, but then thought of a good idea. I quietly went to the nearest store to buy some vegetables. I went back home and cut them up to make a salad for my father. When I gave it to him, he said, “Oh,Christine, what a beautiful salad! You must be taking very good care of my garden.” My father looked happy, but I felt a little bit guilty. I went back to the kitchen when my mother came home. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________ I carefully made a salad and took it to my father. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ________ 【答案】One possible version: I went back to the kitchen when my mother came home. She saw the bag from the supermarket. I was embarrassed and told her the truth. She laughed but promised to make time to help me in the garden. We made a mixture of water with chopped up fresh hot peppers and then watered it on the vegetables. The water is not harmful but can drive away the bugs. The bug free vegetables grew quickly, and finally I was able to pick some. I carefully made a salad and took it to my father. He looked at it with a smile. “Christine, the carrots are smaller in this salad, but they taste better.” I realized that he had known all along about my shopping trip. I smiled back at him. Now, I better understand how putting a lot of effort into caring for something can help you appreciate the results more, however small they may be.【导语】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了作者的父亲生病住院期间,将种植蔬菜的菜园交给作者照顾,结 果起先作者未能兑现承诺,在其父亲提出要用菜园的菜做一份沙拉时,用在商店买回来的菜为父亲做了一 份沙拉后,作者猛然惊醒,然后在其母亲的帮助下,让菜园恢复了生机并收获了果实,用菜园里的菜给父 亲做了一份真正的沙拉,感悟到劳有所获的幸福。 词汇激活 行为类 ①看到:saw/noticed/observed ②笑:laughed/smiled ③理解:understand /know/see 描述类 ①尴尬的:was embarrassed /felt awkward /felt embarrassed ②无害的: not harmful / harmless 【点睛】[高分句型1]. However, the last lesson was a disaster. Chitose and her grandpa had a huge fight. She arrived at the studio smiling and said, “Look Grandpa, I painted this portrait of you.” The man in the portrait had a lot of hair, stood straight, looked young, and smiled. Chitose might be talented enough to attend an art college in France, but she has a big weakness as an artist. When she paints a person, too often she paints an idealized image rather than the real person. Grandpa had been explaining this point to her forseveral months, but she just wouldn’t listen. Grandpa got a little angry and said to her, “This is not me, and you are not a real artist.” She got angry too and said she didn’t care because she didn’t need him as a teacher anymore. Grandpa then showed her the portrait he had painted as her farewell gift and said, “This is the real you!” She took one look at it and said, “No, it isn’t!” and then left. Grandpa gave the portrait of Chitose to her parents. He had done the portrait a couple of months before Chitose started changing her style, and he thinks it shows the high school student he taught for two years. When Grandpa painted it, she still had her natural curly hair. She was not wearing all the accessories (配饰) she has now, including the ring shaped earrings she loves. She also never wore makeup then. This was a Chitose with a fantastic future who knew she was still an amateur artist. But now she is getting older and wants to act and look more like an adult. However, she will never become a great artist if she stops learning. Chitose’s mom secretly put the portrait into one of Chitose’s suitcases when she left home for France. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________ Chitose painted a portrait of her grandpa and herself. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________ 【答案】One possible version: Chitose’s mom secretly put the portrait into one of Chitose’s suitcases when she left home for France. Whenshe discovered it, she saw a Chitose who was willing to listen in order to improve her art. She realized that the Chitose she’d become was different. She wanted to prove to everyone that she was an adult and had stopped listening to others. After realizing her weakness, She started learning again and her art got much better. Chitose painted a portrait of her grandpa and herself. The portrait won first prize in a young artists competition. She painted herself like her grandpa did, as Chitose the high school student with a lot of potential. She also painted her grandpa as she really sees him. The wrinkles are proof of his wisdom. The stick shows he will overcome his physical challenges. His bent back shows that he has poured all his strength into what he loves the most: his art and his granddaughter. 词汇激活 行为类 ①提高:improve/enhance ②意识到:realize/be aware of ③表明:show/make it clear 情绪类 ①倾听:listen/lend an ear ②最爱的:love the most/favorite Writing 4 (2022·湖南·长沙一中二模)阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的 短文。 Getting to watch surgery should be exciting for any medical student. But in my case, while two doctors were doing the operation, I was checking my phone every 20 seconds to see how much longer it would be until I couldleave. I didn’t belong there; I was only pretending to be there. The truth was that, halfway through university, I knew I didn’t want to be a doctor. And I had to decide whether to keep lying to myself, or change my major. Before university, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Pd always wanted to study English but my parents didn’t approve, saying there was no money in it. So I figured I’d just pick a career that looked well-paid, satisfying, and would make my parents proud. “Doctor” is the first choice, so I decided to study medicine. I knew all the coursework wouldn’t be easy, but I didn’t expect to find it as hard as I did. I spent many late nights and weekends studying, but still didn’t get good grades. I just couldn’t keep the material in mind. By exam time, my grades were terrible and I felt like a fool. I thought maybe a medical internship (实习医生的工作) would help raise my spirits. Absurdly, my internship was where I realized how little I wanted to be a doctor. Every day I’d just go into work and do exactly what I was told, go where I was told to go, and watch what I was told to watch. And then I’d go home. It was fun whenever I got to play with expensive microscopes or watch crazy surgery, but the rest of the time I struggled to get through the day. The other interns, however, practically worked so hard. They were so driven. I thought, “Wow, these interns really want to be doctors. I obviously don’t. “It was a sad realization that sadder, scarier question: If I didn’t want to be a doctor, what did I want to do? It wasn’t an easy decision. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________ Eventually, I changed my major to English writing and suddenly I found university enjoyable. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________ 【答案】One possible version:It wasn’t an easy decision. I had two choices—either keep lying to myself or do a different degree. Changing my major would make the past two years of university a waste of time and money. But I realized that though I’d hate myself for quitting, I’d hate myself more if I ended up being a terrible doctor. I was glad to move onto something new, but I had to deal with my parents’ constant disappointment and complaining about my future. Eventually, I changed my major to English writing and suddenly I found university enjoyable. I was still studying late and through the weekend, but, this time, enjoying the pain. I’d spend hours perfecting a single paragraph until I was satisfied with it. Five hours felt like 20 seconds because I was having so much fun burying myself in writing until good words came out. I started looking for internships that would give me experience in professional writing. Fortunately, I made it as an editorial assistant at a newspaper. 词汇激活 行为类 ①寻找:look for /search for/seek ②.意识到:realize /be aware of ③.处理:deal with /solve/work out 情绪类 ①.高兴的:glad /happy/joyful ②. When Christmas rolled around, I always got the tree up. And Christmas Eve found me placing an envelope on the tree. It was just a small, white envelope with a note of what I had done, stuck among the branches of our Christmastree. It all began because my husband Mike hated Christmas. Oh, not the true meaning of Christmas, but the commercial aspects of it, overspending, the gifts given in desperation because you couldn’t think of anything else. Knowing he felt this way, I decided one year to bypass (避开) the usual shirts, sweaters, ties and so on. I tried to find a special present just for Mike. The inspiration came in an unusual way. Our son, Kevin, who was 12 that year, was wrestling at the junior level at the school he attended, and shortly before Christmas, there was a non-league match against a team Sponsored by an inner-city church. These youngsters, dressed in sneakers so ragged (褴褛的) that shoes seemed to be the only thing holding them together, presented a sharp contrast to our boys in the spiffy blue and gold uniforms and sparkling new wrestling hoes. As the match began I was alarmed to see that the other team was wrestling without headgear, a kind of light helmet designed to protect a wrestler’s cars. It was a luxury the ragged team obviously could not afford. Well, we ended up defeating them. We took every weight class. Mike, seated beside me, shook his head sadly, “I wish one of them could have won,” he said. They have a lot of potential, but losing like this could take the heart right out of them.”Mike loved kids, all kids, and he knew them, having coached little league football, baseball and lacrosse. That was when the idea of his Christmas present came. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ Feeling their dad’s happiness, my children joined me. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 That’s when the idea for his present came. That afternoon, I went to a local sporting goods store and bought an assortment of wrestling headgear and shoes and sent them anonymously to the inner-city church. On Christmas Eve, I placed the envelope on the tree, the note inside telling Mike what I had done and that this was his gift from me. His smile was the brightest thing about Christmas that year and in succeeding years. Feeling their dad’s happiness, my children joined me. Each of our children, unbeknownst to the others, had placed an envelope on the tree for their dad. The tradition has grown and someday will expand even further withour grandchildren standing around the tree with wide-eyed anticipation watching as their fathers take down the envelope. Mike’s spirit, like the Christmas spirit, will always be with us. 3. 词汇激活 行为类 ①购买:buy/purchase ②放置:place/put/lay up ③扩大:expand/enlarge/develop 情绪类 ①幸福:happiness/gladness/contentment ②预期:anticipation/expectation Writing 6 (2022·广东·华南师大附中三模)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇 完整的短文。 Forty-year-old Rao had absolutely no intention of going fishing on that Monday, June 16th.He was still recovering from an injury, but his friends had managed to convince him otherwise. The monsoon had already arrived, but it looked like a good day for fishing. Rao checked his phone for weather updates, before climbing into the boat. There were six others, all fishermen. The men lifted the anchor and set out. They brought a little water and food and blocks of ice to preserve the fish they would catch. If the catch was good, they would turn back early the next morning and head to the market. At first, it was sunny. But as morning turned to afternoon, the sky changed color, and the sun hid behind the clouds. Soon, it became dark, and then it started raining. Perhaps it was best to wait for the weather to settle before returning. But it only got worse-the waves grew higher, finally damaging one of the engines. The fishermen did notpanic still, quickly repairing what was possible to fix. Then, early on Tuesday morning, the radar broke, as did the anchor. Exhausted and frightened, the seven men stayed close to each other as the violent sea tried to destroy their boat. For lack of shelter, they soon lost whatever food and water they had. Feelings of hopelessness hit Rao, but he refused to give in. As the boat threatened to capsize for the 10th time, he drew on years of fishing experience and tried controlling the boat through the angry waves. Twice, he nearly lost friends to the sea, but somehow, with his heart in his mouth, while motivating them, Rao managed to pull them back in. Finally, the waves calmed down. But the men didn’t know how to get back home. Rao tied an orange towel on a pole, hoping someone could notice them. Days went by, and the men sat in silence most of the time. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Then, on June 22nd, the desperate men spotted a ship. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Days went by, and the men sat in silence most of the time. They did so to keep their energy so they could wiat for someone to save them. (2022年1月浙江卷读后续写) When Dr. Henderson was assigning(指定) project mates for his psychology class, I secretly hoped he would pair me with my best friend or at least a classmate I could have some fun with. Above all, I hoped he wouldn't assign me to work with the fiercely competitive, extremely serious fellow who always wore dark clothes and apparently had a personality to match. As fate (命运)would have it, Dr. Henderson very deliberately matched everyone in class and announced that I would be working with the one person in class I wanted to avoid. I went up to my new teammate and introduced myself. He looked at me as though I weren't there. I felt he treated me as though I would hold him back and probably make him fail to get an A in the course. He wasn't mean or abusive; he just gave me the impression he could do whatever project we dreamed up better if he did it alone. Needless to say, I didn't look forward to an entire term of being brushed off, but I tried to make the best of it and didn't say anything for fear that I would make things worse. The project required each team to develop a hypothesis (假说), set up an experiment to test the hypothesis, do the statistical analysis and present the findings. Whatever grade the team received would be shared by bothstudents. When my teammate and I met to discuss our project, I was uneasy. Here was this challenging student who had a reputation for single-mindedness and good grades—the exact opposite of me. I was outmatched. I actually wanted to drop the class at one point, but stopped short because I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of my chickening out. I decided to stick to it no matter what. After long discussions we somehow agreed to do a study on the psychological well-being of teenagers. I wasn't sure what it meant exactly, but at least we had a topic. Para 1. We started to meet regularly to draw up our plans. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ Para 2. One day I got word that he was admitted to hospital for a serious disease. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________ 【答案】We started to meet regularly to draw up our plans. Though I wanted to share my ideas with him fully, I failed to do so for fear that I would hold him back. I just kept nodding when he asked me whether it is ok to do this way or that way. I thought it was impossible to persuade him into accepting my views, so I didn’t want to waste our time to discuss. I started to wait to leave immediately we arrived at the place, and so did he. I just hoped that the presentation day could come earlier. One day I got word that he was admitted to hospital for a serious disease. I felt so sorry to hear that and I thought I should visit him in any case. He was a little surprised to see me when I stepped into his ward with some flowers and fruits. I offered to do the rest work of our project and he invited me to share my ideas to perfect it. We began to work as a fine team and finally finished our project on time. Our hard work paid off and Dr. Henderson’s was very satisfied with our wonderful findings. From this project, we also learned the significance of teammates. Just as the saying goes, one person can go far, but a group of persons can travel farther.
