第一节(满分15分)
Dear Peter,
I’m sorry to hear that you find it hard to manage your time in high school. Many students experience
the same anxiety at first, so please don’t worry too much.
Here are a few suggestions that might help. First, try creating a daily schedule to plan your tasks. Break
large tasks into smaller parts to make them easier to finish, and the important ones should be put
first. Also, you’d better put your phone away while studying so that you can focus. Finally, don’t be
afraid to ask for help when you have difficulty finishing homework.
Remember, it takes time to adapt. I believe you’ll catch up soon. Best wishes!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

Jane hurried to Tom’s room and shared her plan with him. After listening to Jane, Tom readily
accepted her idea. The big cleaning plan began. Jane collected the clothes from the sofa and began to do
the laundry. Meanwhile, Tom was busy cleaning the floor back and forth with all his strength, really aware

even prepared a simple breakfast for Mum. With everything ready for the big moment, they knocked at their
mother’s bedroom door excitedly.
“Happy birthday, Mum!” Jane and Tom shouted when their mother opened the door. Confused and
surprised, Mum stood frozen. When Mum realized what had happened, a warm current rose in her heart.
Staring at the clean floor and the washed clothes, she was moved to tears and hugged them tightly. “It is the
best birthday gift I have ever had!” Mum said proudly. Around 11 a.m., another surprise-- the cake that
Dad had ordered-- arrived as well. Mum took out her smartphone, took a picture of the three of them
eating the cake happily, and sent it to Dad. What an unforgettable birthday for her!

Text 1
W: Brian, please go to the grocery store and buy some milk.
M: I’m watching TV now. Can’t somebody else do it?
W: No, I’m busy sweeping the kitchen and your father is sleeping.
M: OK. Leave it with me.
Text 2
W: Are you still sitting in front of that computer?
M: I’ve only been here for an hour. What time is it?
W: It’s 3 o’clock.
M: Oh no, I should have been at the meeting 30 minutes ago.
Text 3
M: Hello Ann, I’ve just seen the pictures you posted online.
W: Do you like them? I took them this afternoon.
M: Great! Most people post pictures of leaves during the autumn, but yours feel different.
Text 4
M: It’s about time you got out of the pool. I’d like to be there before the match begins so I can show my
support when Tom gets into the boxing ring.
W: I promise to get you there in time to cheer. Just ten more minutes.
Text 5
第2页 ,共4页M: Pay attention everyone. Mr. Lee is away on a course, so tomorrow Mr. Roy will stand in for him.
W: Mr. Roy? But we can never understand what he’s saying. He speaks too softly.
Text 6
W: Hello. How can I help you?
M: Hi. I’m Peter Brown. I’m here to pick up the sunflower I ordered online.
W: Okay. Here you are. Is there anything else I can help you with?
M: Actually yes. I’d like to grow flowers in my house. Could you recommend a flowering plant that doesn’t
need much water?
W: I think roses would be good for you. They don’t need much water.
M: Thank you so much! I’ll take a rose plant as well. Oh, do you happen to have any postcards?
W: Yeah, we’re giving away free dried flower postcards.
M: I really appreciate it.

M: I’ve booked a room in the name of David Cullinan.
W: Just one moment. Umm, could you repeat the last name?

W: Cullinan. I can’t find the name. Did you book over the phone?
M: Yes, just yesterday.
W: Sorry, let me just see if there are any messages here. I’m sorry. I can’t find the name, and we’re fully
booked tonight.
M: So you’re saying I can’t stay here. This is the Sheldon Hotel, yes?

M: Listen, why don’t you and Frank come over for dinner sometime?
W: That’s a great idea. When?
M: How about next Friday?
W: Can’t do Friday, I’m afraid. We’ll have a parent-teacher conference on Friday afternoon after school and
then we’ll have to do the paperwork in the evening.
M: What about Saturday then?
W: That would normally be fine. But our babysitter is away that night and we won’t be able to find one at
such short notice. Why don’t you and Liz come over for dinner at ours and then we’ll be able to look after
the kids. You’ll be able to meet them too.
M: Okay, let’s do that, then. Liz will be happy. She won’t have to cook.
W: I’ll be doing the cooking when you can come around. I love cooking.

M: OK. And do you do any other types of exercise?
W: Yeah, I sometimes do a little swimming, but usually just on weekends, because I think it’s tiring. But
normally I go running a few times a week, mostly from Monday to Thursday.
M: Hmm. No wonder your knee hurts a lot. You haven’t had any problems with your legs before, right?
W: No, not with my legs. I did have an accident last year when I fell over and hurt my shoulder, but that’s
fine now.
M: Excellent. OK, well let’s have a closer look and see what might be causing this problem. If you can just
