THE MOMENT was completely unexpected. It came when 79-year-old Jane Goodall was helping return a
chimpanzee (黑猩猩) called Wounda to the wild. They had not met before. As Wounda went out of her cage, she
suddenly hugged and kissed Ms. Goodall. It might have been a thank you from all chimpanzees. Ms. Goodall never
forgot the warmth of that embrace.
She went to Kenya in 1957, influenced by Tarzan books — she was attracted by the natural world. She was
seldom happier than when camping alone with binoculars (双筒望远镜), a kettle and baked beans. While working
there with the chimpanzees, she found some things surprising. The chimpanzees, though mostly fruit-eaters, also
ate meat. They slept in leafy nests, high in the trees. After fights, they made gestures of friendliness. The impressive
scene came when she noticed David sitting by a termite (白蚁) hill. In his hand was a grass stem, which he stuck
into the nest to bring out termites to eat. In short, he was preparing and using tools. Until then, making tools was
thought to be unique to humans.
On a trip to Gombe in 1990, she was frightened to see that the land outside the reserve had been destroyed.
The trees had gone, the soil was poor and the villagers were struggling to survive. From then on she began to speak
out, telling all who would listen that it was time to change the world.
In 1991 she set up Roots & Shoots, a programme that engaged children to choose projects that would help
animals. Her message was simple: each day, each of them should do something to make the world better. Her
programme was aimed at the young, because she was especially saddened by the despair she saw among them. The
programme spread to more than 75 countries, and soon she was spending 300 days a year travelling the world to
check on progress.
Devoted her whole life to her pioneering causes, she passed away on Oct 1, 2025 at the age of 91.
4. Which word can best describe Jane Goodall’s work in Paragraph 1?
A Rewarding.
B. Tough.
C. Tiresome.
D. Relaxing.
5. What drove Jane Goodall to start speaking out?
A. A request from villagers.
B. Environmental damage.
C. Her desire to set up a project.
D. Her discovery about chimpanzees.
6. What can we learn about Roots & Shoots?
A. It focused on animal research.
B It failed to work out as planned.
C. It aimed to comfort the sad children.
D. It called on the young to act for a better world.
7. Which of the following shows the right order about Jane Goodall?
①She saw that the forest outside Gombe was in very bad condition.
②She started the Roots & Shoots program for young people.
③She was hugged by a chimp named Wounda when it was set free.
④She found out that chimps can make and use tools to eat.
⑤She went to Africa for the first time because she loved nature stories.
A. ③—⑤—④—①—②
B. ③—④—⑤—①—②
C. ⑤—①—④—②—③
D. ⑤—④—①—②—③

Instant noodles are a favorite quick meal when people don’t want to cook. Picture eating them while watching
TV on a stormy night — pure comfort But many believe they’re just junk food that harms health. The truth is,
whether they’re unhealthy depends entirely on how you prepare them.
The main issue isn’t the noodles themselves, but the common way people make them: pouring boiling water
over dried noodles and adding all the salt seasoning packets. These flavor packets contain high levels of salt and
artificial additives (人工添加剂), making this version unbalanced and unhealthy.
Actually, plain instant noodles aren’t terrible. They’re fried during production (which adds some oil and
calories), but they fill you up well and provide quick energy when you’re hungry. To make them healthier, cook
them properly: boil the noodles first, drain excess starchy (含有淀粉的) water, then use fresh water or broth (肉汤).
Crucially, use only half the seasoning packet to reduce salt. Add vegetables like spinach or carrots and protein like
an egg or tofu while cooking. This boosts vitamins and protein while cutting sodium (钠). This transforms them
into a balanced meal.
So, are instant noodles junk food? If prepared lazily with all the seasoning (调料) and no extras, yes. But when
cooked with less seasoning plus vegetables and protein, they become a decent occasional meal. Remember: the
secret is variety. Enjoy them once or twice a week as part of a diverse diet, and they won’t harm your health.
They’re far less scary than people think — just upgrade your cooking method!
8. What determines whether instant noodles are unhealthy or not?
A. The cooking time.
B. The time of eating.
C. The preparation method.
D. The balanced seasoning.
9. What is the major cause of unhealthy instant noodles?
A The dried noodles.
B. The flavor packets.
C. The boiling water.
D. The amount of oil.
10. What is the main purpose of the third paragraph?
A. To defend instant noodles.
B. To list harmful additives.
C. To warn about health dangers.
D. To give cooking instructions.
11. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Instant noodles are hard to cook.
B. Instant noodles are a perfect meal.
C. Instant noodles are not all waste.
D. The less instant noodles, the healthier.

New era (时代) requires a new vocabulary. Will we still talk about the “mobile” phone when all phones are
mobile, or when they are implanted within us?
Technology is everywhere nowadays, especially at work. Some people are really good at using all the cool new
tools that keep popping up. They have something called a TQ, or technology quotient. Think of it like a superpower
for understanding the latest tech stuff that our great-grandparents would have found really impossible. Having a high
TQ means you’re good at using all the cool new things that not everyone knows about yet.
The examples are common and becoming more and more frequent. For the parents it might be a home-school
video class. For the brand manager it might be search engine improving, which helps the brand’s content rank higher
in search results. And for the doctor, it might be the role of artificial intelligence in supporting the analysis ( 分析)
of a CT scan. TQ tries to quantify our ability to make wise use of present technologies and to quickly adapt,
embrace (拥抱) and make use of future creations. This adoption is of great importance from a variety of perspectives,
from social to business. One trip into the world of ChatGPT and we can see how the way AI and search interact and
operate is changing for just about everyone.
Any Mom or Dad can understand the value of IQ and EQ in predicting the potential for a child’s success. But
what about technology? The ability for the child and the teacher to understand, embrace and assimilate technology
will be a key aspect of their lives as we speed into the future. We are increasingly defined by technology and our
active participation in everything from smart phones to Facebook. It might just be time for the basic human needs of
food, water and shelter to include technology too. And when that happens, it just might be a good idea to measure
it.
While this shift brings challenges, it’s unstoppable. As TQ rises, it will combine with IQ and EQ, reshaping how
we live, work, and learn — turning adaptability with tech into a measurable advantage.
12. What is TQ according to the text?
A. Speed of learning new languages.
B. Skill of repairing high-tech products.
C. Talent to follow modern changes.
D. Ability to use new technologies.
13. Which of the following people has a high TQ?
A. A grandparent who finds new tech devices challenging.
B. A manager who often uses modern search engines.
C A doctor who analyzes CT scans with AI’s help.
D. A mom who watches videos of her child’s school life.
14. What does the underlined word “assimilate” in the fourth paragraph mean?
A. Depend on.
B. Take in.
C. Lie in.
D. Turn down.
15. What might be the best title for the passage?
A. Why Are IQ and EQ Important for TQ?
B. Where to Start Adapting to TQ Changes?
C. How Has TQ Changed in the Modern Era?
D. What Makes TQ the New Intelligence?

negative thought patterns or worries about the day. However, when you decide to focus on something in the present

around us. ____19____ It allows us to see the “same old” in a new light.
____20____ You could match your color with how you are feeling. One route allows you to accept and connect to
your emotions, and the other is a means of taking control of them. Also, by spotting color walk the time of year, guide

also popular on social media.

52. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头续写两段,构成一篇完整的短文。
Last September was my first month of middle school. Every day in the passages, I felt lost. Everyone at school
seemed to know who they were and what they were doing, but not me. I was desperate to find my place at school.
And then there was the school play. I added my name to the sign-up sheet for props and costumes (戏装). That’s
the real beginning of this story. I’d had an enjoyable backstage (后台) making sure all the actors had their props. But
then, on opening night, Mr. Bash, the director, rushed up to me. “There you are, Maisy,” he panted (气喘吁吁). “I
need you to step in for Bailey tonight. He broke his leg during lunch.”
I started sweating. “I...” I stammered (结结巴巴地说), shaking my head. Bailey was the one who played the Lost
Cow, a funny character in the play.
“Listen, I know this is short notice,” Mr. Bash said. “But we can’t do the show without the Lost Cow. You know
the cues (戏剧提示) because you’re always waiting to take the halter rope (缰绳) from Bailey.”
“But...”
“Just go onstage, get the rope from Train Conductor, do the shrug (耸肩) and walk off. After all, no one will even
know that it’s you.”
That stopped me short. If I had to go out there and recite a bunch of lines, I might faint. Or else throw up. But
what if I were wearing the cow head, and my name wasn’t in the program, and no one could really even see me? So
fifteen minutes later, I was anxiously waiting behind the curtain.
“Ready, Lost Cow?” said a voice beside me. It was Mr. Bash.
“No one knows it’s me, right?” I asked.
“No one,” Mr. Bash said. Meanwhile, encouraging words rose from the props team and costumes team behind me
and I saw Bailey himself in a wheelchair, giving me a determined look.
注意:
1. 写作词数应为 150 左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
