【含情态动词的被动语态】
一、构成
含有情态动词的被动语态的结构为“情态动词+助动词be+及物动词的过去分词”情态动词指can,may,
must, should 等。
The flowers should be watered.应该给花浇水了。
Tables can be made of stone.桌子可由石头做成。
Teenagers should be allowed to go out with their friends.应该允许青少年和朋友外出。
二、句式
肯定形式：主语+情态动词+be+及物动词的过去分词+by 短语（by 短语可省略。
否定形式：主语+情态动词+not +be+及物动词的过去分词。
一般疑问句：情态动词+主语+be+及物动词的过去分词？
特殊疑问句：特殊疑问词+情态动词+主语+be+及物动词的过去分词？
Waste paper should not be thrown here.废纸不应该被扔在这里。
Must the trees be watered now?这些树必须现在浇水吗？
Should it be done by Li Ming?这件事应该是李明干吗？
注意：如果不强调动作的执行者，by 短语常可省略。

二、转变方法

（一）一般疑问句 直接将被动语态的陈述句中的情态动词提前。
Must this work be done at once?
这项工作必须立即完成吗？
Should your homework be finished before six?
你的家庭作业应在六点前完成吗？
（二）特殊疑问句 由特殊疑问词加上被动语态的一般疑问句构成。
When must this work be done?
这项工作必须在什么时候完成？
Where can the book be found？
这本书在什么地方能被找到呢？
（三）反意疑问句：
This bridge can be built next year, can't it?
这座桥明年能建成，是吗？
This book shouldn't be taken out of the library, should it?
这本书不应被带出图书馆，是吗？
（四）否定句 在情态动词后面加上not 或never 即可，但must 表"必要"时否定式为needn't。
This work needn't be done at once.
这项工作没必要立即做。
This problem can't be worked out very easily.
这道试题不能轻而易举地算出来。

【情态动词must, might, could 和can’t 表示推测】
情态动词中的must, can, could, may, might 都表推测。其中must 的可能性最大，can / could 次之，may / might
最小。
具体用法如下：
1. must 的用法：
（1）表示推测“可能性”时，意思是“一定、准是”，语气较肯定，较有把握。
He must be American. = It is certain that he is American. [来源:学科网]
他准是个美国人。
（2）must 表推测只能用于肯定句。如果要表示“一定不、肯定不”的意思时，应用can`t,如询问某种可能时，
应用can。
He must know my address. 他肯定知道我的地址。（一定）
He can`t know my address. 他肯定不知道我的地址。（一定不）
Can he know my address? 他知道我的地址吗？（询问可能性）

2. can
can/ can’t 后可接进行时/完成时，表示对现在发生的动作或过去发生的动作进行推测。
e.g. They can’t be reading in the library. 他们一定不在图书馆读书。
He can’t have gone to Shanghai because I saw him just now.
他不可能去了上海，我刚看见他了。
3. may/ might
may，might 可以推测现在正在发生的动作或过去发生的动作，还可以推测将来的情况。
e.g. He may/might be sleeping now.
(现在) 他可能正在睡觉。
These people may/might have seen the film before.
(过去) 这些人以前可能看过这部电影。
It may rain. There are some clouds.
(将来) 可能会下雨。因为有一些乌云。
二、表示推测时，反意疑问句的两种情况
1.陈述部分是对现在的状态（现在的事实）进行推测，反意疑问部分用现在时态。
They could be working at the hospital,aren’t they?
2.陈述部分是对过去发生的事情进行推测，若有表示过去的时间状语，反意疑问句部分用一般过去时；若没
有表示过去的时间状语，反意疑问部分用现在完成时。

every two days, every second day 都作“每隔一天”解，但在实际应用中,人们更倾向用every other day 来表示
这一意思，every two days 也有人用，而every second day 则比较少见。
4).each 可以与other 构成固定的搭配，即each other 意思为“彼此、相互、互相”，而every 则不能。

According to a recent study, there are about 70,000 blind children in Indonesia. Among them, 60 percent were
not born blind. Iyehezkiel Parudani is one of them, who lost his eyesight by accident at age six. He now teaches
English to blind students at the Pajajaran Special SchooL Iyehezkiel Parudani says learning English can help blind
people feel better about themselves. "By learning English, they can be an English teacher, a translator, and a tour
guide. " Students read using Braille (盲文). To write, they use special tools, too.
Iyehezkiel Parudani says blind people should not let their physical disability influence their dreams. In 2008 ,
he got a chance to study at the University of Texas. Two years later, he got a master's degree in course development
there.
"In the US, if I go to the university to study, everything is available - like e-books, Braille books. Here in
Indonesia, you know, it’s difficult to find a reference book in e-book or in Braille. We have to make it ourselves. In
the US, I can move wherever I want because e verything designed is really accessible for people with blindness. "
Eha Lestari, one of his star students, says learning English has changed her life. She has already traveled to the
US with the help of an Indonesia-U. S. program. "I study English because I love English very much. I want to be a
translator because I want to go to the other countries and then I want to meet some people from around the world. "
Like her classmates, Eha loves to sing. Here, music is part of daily life . Even the students who do not study

Introductions，like the one above，are a great way to begin a good conversation ．When you introduce
yourself，be confident and comfortable．That will make others comfortable，too．After the introduction，wait a bit．
If the other person doesn’t ask a question，you ask one．Starting with a question shows interest in the other person．
You could ask” What do you do?”or“How do you know our host?” But asking something a little different shows
you are clearly different．“What did you do last weeked?”and“Have you seen any good movies recently?” are two
topics you could ask about．Another good way to start with is” Tell me about yourself．”Most people love talking
about themselves．
How to keep a good conversation going
As the other person begins to answer your question ，look for the same opinion ．If you ask about last
weekend，the person could talk about a bike ride they took．When the person finishes his opinions，you could
mention an experience that you had with biking．You can then move on to discussing other sports the person may
be interested in．
When the other person is talking，be interested in them．Listen carefully to their answers．Don’t look around
the room．That gives the other person the message that you are not really interested in them．
If you are answering the question ，don’t go on and on ．Answer the question and then stop ．A good
conversation is like a tennis game where the ball goes back and forth．
With some practice，you’ll be able to start and keep a conversation going with anyone！
