"读后续写"要求考生在理解一篇不完整文章的基础上，充分调动想象创新思维，大胆预测文章缺失部
分的内容走势，进行充满个性色彩的设计，并用英语进行续写表达。所提供短文词数在 350左右，划线词
语涉及到名词(词组)、动词(词组)、介词(词组)和形容词等，其中，以名词(词组)为主，在续写中至少要使
用5个关键词语，需要注意：在使用关键词语时根据时态和语态的需要，可以改变动词的形式，可以改变
名词的单复数，但不要改变关键词语在原文中的含义和词性；多以记叙文故事类文章或者夹叙夹议类文章
为主，故事情节有曲折、有起伏，但故事线索的逻辑性比较强。

When I was in middle school, my social studies teacher asked me to enter a writing contest. I said no without
thinking. I did not love writing. My family came from Brazil, so English was only my second language. Writing
was so difficult and painful for me that my teacher had allowed me to present my paper on the sinking of the
Titanic by acting out a play, where I played all the parts. No one laughed harder than he did.
So, why did he suddenly force me to do something at which I was sure to fail? His reply: “Because I love your
stories. If you’re willing to apply yourself, I think you have a good shot at this.” Encouraged by his words, I agreed
to give it a try.
I chose Paul Revere’s horse as my subject. Paul Revere was a silversmith (银匠) in Boston who rode a horse at
night on April 18, 1775 to Lexington to warn people that British soldiers were coming. My story would come
straight from the horse’s mouth. Not a brilliant idea, but funny; and unlikely to be anyone else’s choice.
What did the horse think, as he sped through the night? Did he get tired? Have doubts? Did he want to quit? I
sympathized immediately. I got tired. I had doubts. I wanted to quit. But, like Revere’s horse, I kept going. I
worked hard. I checked my spelling. I asked my older sister to correct my grammar. I checked out a half dozen
books on Paul Revere from the library. I even read a few of them.
When I handed in the essay to my teacher, he read it, laughed out loud, and said, “Great. Now, write it again.”
I wrote it again, and again and again. When I finally finished it, the thought of winning had given way to the
enjoyment of writing. If I didn’t win, I wouldn’t care.

from other schools would laugh at him,” he explained uncomfortably. “I gave him the choice to run or not, and let
him decide.”
I bit back my frustration(懊恼). I knew the coach meant well—he thought he was doing the right thing. After
making sure that David could run if he wanted, I turned to find him coming towards me, his small body rocking
from side to side as he swung his feet forward.
David had a brain disease which prevented him from walking or running like other children, but at school his
classmates thought of him as a regular kid. He always participated to the best of his ability in whatever they were
doing. That was why none of the children thought it unusual that David had decided to join the cross-country team.
It just took him longer—that’s all. David had not missed a single practice, and although he always finished his run
long after the other children, he did always finish. As a special education teacher at the school, I was familiar with
the challenges David faced and was proud of his strong determination.

knew exactly what to do.

French toast. Jeff broke two eggs into a plate and added in some milk. Jenna found the bread and put two slices into
the egg mixture. Next, Jeff turned on the second stove burner to heat up the frying pan. Everything was going
smoothly until Jeff started frying the bread. The pan was too hot and the bread turned black within seconds. Jenna
threw the burnt piece into the sink and put in the other slice of bread. This time, she turned down the fire so it
cooked nicely.
Then Jeff noticed steam shooting out of the pot and the lid starting to shake. The next minute, the porridge
boiled over and put out the fire. Jenna panicked. Thankfully, Jeff stayed calm and turned off the gas quickly. But the
stove was a mess now. Jenna told Jeff to clean it up so they could continue to cook the rest of the porridge. But
Jeff’s hand touched the hot burner and he gave a cry of pain. Jenna made him put his hand in cold water. Then she
caught the smell of burning. Oh dear! The piece of bread in the pan had turned black as well.

读后续写答题策略
（1）精读所给语言材料，理清文章脉络，明确作者的写作思路，理解文章大意。
（2）寻求前文与续写段段首句之间的内在联系，站在作者的角度，设计并发展情节，前后时态保持一致，
想象要合理，情节要连贯，并且注意前后文的续写要保持一致。
（3）后续情节一般为故事的高潮，是原作者声音的延续，因此要尽量符合原文的思路。
（4）续写内容要积极健康向上，展现事物美好的一面。
（5）平时多积累英语常用句型和地道表达，不要自己生硬的造句。以精悍短小的句子为主，长短句结合
使用。短句多使用非谓语动词，介词短语和省略。长句多使用强调句型，定语从句等。
具体语言技巧总结如下:
（1）在语言技巧上，对话除了用say,ask 引出外，还可用以下词语。请具体语境如下
①“Why don’t you want to accept this wonderful opportunity? ”asked the boss on the phone.
② “Shall we leave now?” he whispered to us and we left the room quietly.
③ “Help! Help! I can’t swim,” screamed the frightened boy.
④ “Please don’t hurt my cat,” begged Sarah as her brother picked it up by one leg.
⑤ “ I’d like to live in a castle of my own too,” agreed the young prince.
⑥ “ Yes. I bought a car and a new flat this winter,” my father replied.
⑦ “ Are you coming with us?” shouted Li Ming to her friends on the other side of the room.
⑧ “ I didn’t like that meal at all,” complained the customer.
⑨ “ Perhaps you would like to go this way?” suggested the man shyly.
(2) 适当使用with/without这个介词。
①The potential house buyer came with confidence.
②The man answered without hesitation.
③With the lights on, the elderly woman left the room.④With a book in his arm, he left the room.
⑤With so much work to do, she will have a hard time.
⑥With so much work done, she felt relaxed.
(3) 适当使用非谓语动词。
①We thanked the elderly couple and felt a sense of warmth, deeply moved.
②The owner smiled, saying, “ Tell me why you need this house.”
③“May I ask why?” I asked, surprised.
（4）使用副词： 此类词可以放在句首，句尾或句中，修饰动作。
①He gave her the child to hold. Lovingly, she kissed the baby on its forehead with her cold white lips, then stared
wildly around the room, fell back—and died.
②His mother was sleeping when he woke up. Joyfully, he slid out of the room.
（5）使用形容词短语：形容词短语如果中规中矩的使用，也会失去色彩，以下列举的形容词短语可以去
掉be动词直接放到句首或句尾，用逗号与主句隔开，起到强调作用，烘托出主人公的心理活动及变化，对
主语做重要的补充。
①We had no idea where we were and it got dark. Exhausted and hungry, I wondered if we could find our way
back.
②Suddenly a little rabbit jumped out in front of my horse. Afraid that I might hurt the lovely creature, I
automatically let out a cry to stop my horse.
(6) 使用强调句型
It is not mony but love that matters.

I was confident at the audition (试演) for the school play and felt pleased to get a role. It just felt good to be in

up correctly? What if they forgot their lines? The more people talked about their anxiety, the more nervous
everyone became. The worries spread from person to another—like a baton (接力棒) being passed in a relay race—
until the whole of the backstage area seemed to be full of tension and worry.
I was on stage early, at first performing my non-spoken role in the background with several other guys around
the same age. When, suddenly, I heard my cue (出场提示), the lights were bright in my eyes, I couldn’t see the
audience but knew there were hundreds of people out there all watching me. The words that had flowed so easily
when I stood in front of a mirror didn’t want to come, and when they did I found myself hurrying into them. I tried
to slow down my thoughts and my words.

me, it felt like the decision of a lifetime.
“Come on, sweetie! The ride is going to start!” my grandmother called out, laughing at my indecision. Seeing
that, Mr Salas also smiled warmly. Finally, I picked the horse with the pink hair and blue saddle. In the following
minutes, I was absorbed in enjoying the ride, forgetting my family was struggling. My grandmother waved each
time the ride passed her by. Mr Salas watched me from a distance.
Sadly, the carousel ride ended much too quickly. My grandmother was waiting and took my hand. I got down
from the horse unwillingly, feeling bittersweet.

I always sing when I need to cheer myself up, and because there was no one else in the apartment, I slipped off
my shoes, went and stood in front of the mirror and started singing.Quite quickly I found myself belting out (大声
唱) one of my favourite songs, Bridge over Troubled Water. As I finished the song, I suddenly heard applause. I
looked around the room thinking that my roommate had perhaps slipped in without me noticing — but there was

went to explore. There were trees to climb and a stream for paddling(戏水). Alice sat there watching the cows
eating the grass. The day flew by and was: getting dark. Then the family had a barbecue near the tent.
As they were ready for sleep, strange rustling(沙沙声) noises came from the fence next to their tent in the
darkness. “What are those noises? Is a wolf approaching?” Alice worried and moved closer to Mum, “Maybe it’s
just the wind,” Mum gently patted Alice. Alice didn’t say, anything more. They were all tired after a day outdoors,
and crawled into their sleeping bags. Soon Mum and Dad were asleep.

and Dad got me headphones for my stereo (立体声音响设备)!” I pulled the headphones out of the box and was

guy who admitted. Finally, a mix of fear and my own conscience pushed the response out of my mouth.
“I did, Aaron.”
“What were you thinking? Get back out here and look at what you missed!” His words forced me forward. I
grabbed a rag (抹布) and followed him out to table twenty-two. As we made our way through the restaurant, he said
something about rags, but I didn’t hear clearly with other conversations going on around us.
I quickly realized the true issue was the mess beneath the table. A nearly full cup of beer had tipped over,

With the clock ticking, he was briefly glancing through the pages of his textbook, desperately trying to absorb
any last-minute knowledge before the quiz began. However, just as he was doing so, the teacher severely instructed
everyone to pack away everything except their pencil cases. Raj let out a low sigh, despair settling heavily in his
chest.
As the teacher handed out the papers, he felt nervous and his hands grew icy and slick with sweat, showing his
anxiety. Drops of sweat stood out on his forehead as he tried to focus. Thoughts of being a failure ran through his
mind. He moved his body from side to side in his seat as he thought of the notes he had secretly hidden in his pencilcase.
Finally, the teacher announced, “Class, the time is 10: 00 a. m. We will stop at 11: 00a. m. sharp. You may
begin, now.” The noise of flurrying papers was heard as students attentively turned to the first page. Raj rapidly
filled out the multiple-choice section without much consideration, his heart pounding faster with each tick of the
clock.

and rich tones. I remember wondering what could be so funny behind that medical door. What could she possibly
find to laugh about at a time like this? So I decided she wasn’t serious enough about the whole thing and that I
would try to find a nurse who was caring. But I was wrong.
This day was different. Ramona had taken my blood before. She knew about my fear of needles, and she
kindly hid the needle under a magazine with a bright blue picture of a kitchen being remodeled. As we opened the
blouse, the catheter (导管) on my breast was exposed and the fresh scar on my chest could be seen. She gently
reached over and ran her hand across the scar, examining the smoothness of the healing skin and looking for any
irregularities. I began to cry gently and quietly. She looked at me tenderly and said, “You haven’t touched the scar
yet, have you?” And I said, “No.”
