66.Dear Jack,
I’m glad to receive your letter and understand that you’re facing some challenges in your
Chinese course. Don’t worry too much! Learning a new language always comes with difficulties at
thebeginning, which is acommon experience for everyone.
Here are some suggestions that I think will be helpful. Firstly, practice makes perfect. Try to use
Chinese as much as possible in daily life, such as by chatting with Chinese friends or watching
Chinesemovies. Secondly, it’s agood idea to keep avocabulary notebook where you can writedown
newwords and review them regularly. Remember, patience and persistence are key.
Ibelieve that ifyou keep working hard, you will make great progress.
Yours,
Li Hua

范文1
At recess the next day, I saw Del sitting alone watching the kickball game. His shoulders were
slumped, his knees drawn up to his chest, and his arms wrapped around them. I felt a pang of guilt as
I remembered how quickly I had judged him and spread that harmful rumor. Taking a deep breath, I
walked over and sat down beside him. “Hey, Del,” I started, “I’m sorry about everything. I
shouldn’t have spread those rumors without knowing the truth. I know now that you were just
worried about your brother and your mom.” Del’s eyes widened slightly, and for a moment, he just
stared at me, as if trying to process my words. “Thanks, Jamie,” hesaid quietly, his voice tinged with
surprise. “I appreciate you telling me that. I forgive you.” As he spoke, I could see the tension in his
shoulders ease slightly, and hiseyes softened, thecloud ofsadness liftingjust abit.
Now that Del had forgiven me, I decided to do more before the recess ended. I gathered a few of
my friends and explained that the rumors about Del were untrue. Together, we approached the other
kids and shared what we had learned about Del’s brother and their mom. Slowly, the truth began to
sink in, and the hostility towards Del started to dissipate. By the end of recess, some kids even
apologized to Del and invited him to join the next kickball game. Reflecting on this experience, I

circumstances before passing judgment.
范文2
At recess the next day, I saw Del sitting alone watching the kickball game. The sight of his
isolated figure tugged at my heartstrings. Ashamed and embarrassed, I took a deep
breath, approached him inch by inch and sat beside him. At the sight of me, his eyebrow
narrowed, with a mixture of surprise and confusion. I lowered my head, murmuring, “Sorry, Del. It
was I who spread the rumor that you hit the little boy.” His eyes widened in surprise, I could feel
something in his voice sounded more hurt than angry. But a moment later, he patted my shoulder
gently and replied in a soft voice, “It’s okay, Jamie. I’m also sorry for calling your nickname.” It
was thefirst timehe’dused my real name. Iwas delighted that I got his forgiveness.
Now that Del had forgiven me, I decided to do more before the recess was over. I gathered my
courage, walked up into the front and began to call for others’ attention. All the kids stopped kicking
the ball and exchanged confused looks with each other. I cleared my throat and explained what
actually happened. I felt a sense of relief welling up in my heart and surging through me after my
confession. Much to my surprise, the players waved to Del, inviting him to join us. Del nodded
willingly, a look of joy spreading across his face. Soon the air was filled with laughter and
talks. Only at that momentdid I realizethat rumorspread easily, butit hurt someone deeply.

W: Good afternoon and welcome to Stanton University. I’m here to tell you about the various dorms
wehave. Weaim to offer accommodation toall first-yearstudents. First of all, there’s Brown Hall,
which is not the most modern of buildings, but it is very popular. Unlike the other halls, it has
recently had a gym built in its basement. Another option is Blake Residence, built like a large
house. Everybody cooks and eats together. It has a private garden and is even more peaceful
because this is an all-girl’s residence but boys can visit it. The largest one we have is Queen’s
Building and this has been upgraded recently. The original parking area has been built onand each
bedroom now has its own shower room. A further option is the Parkway Flats with a preservation
order. This has meant that only a limited amount could be done to upgrade it, and the surrounding
area is important. So parking is not permitted around the flats. However, the flats do have many
extra facilities such as a special computer room, a small library and a self-service restaurant. The
cost ofmeals is covered inthefees soit does look a bitmoreexpensive.
