Dear Tom,
I'm sorry to know you are now having trouble fitting in with others, and you may often
feel lonely and depressed. But I think the situation will improve if you can follow the advice
below.
First, I recommend you to learn about your classmates' likes and dislikes. In this way, you
can get to know more different people. Second, being willing to help your classmates may be
a good way, which will show them that you are just as friendly. Last but not least, it would be
wise to take an active part in the class activities with your classmates. By doing so, you will
make more friends.
With time going on, people will know you better and will like to make friends with you if
you can do as the above. I hope you will find my suggestions helpful.
Yours,
Li Hua

Paragraph 1:
Then Kelly began her training, keeping it a secret from her mom. Every day after school,
she would rush to the gym, her heart pounding with both excitement and fear of being
discovered. She practiced tirelessly, her punches growing stronger and her footwork more
precise. What she didn’t know was that her mom had already noticed her absence from ballet
classes. Instead of confronting her, her mom secretly asked Serena to keep an eye on Kelly
and support her. Serena, touched by her sister’s determination, began sending her encouraging
messages and even asking her boxer-friend helped her with training tips. Kelly felt a strange
sense of support but had no idea it was coming from her mom.
Paragraph 2:
The following Monday, results of the boxing tryout were posted. Kelly’s hands trembled
as she scanned the list, and when she saw her name, she let out a cry of joy. She ran home,
bursting with excitement, and found her mom waiting with a knowing smile. “Mom, I made
the boxing team!” Kelly exclaimed, her eyes shining with pride. Her mom hugged her tightly
and said, “I’ve always known, Kelly. I just wanted you to follow your heart. Dreams come in
all sizes, but the ones you love are the best.” Kelly was stunned but overwhelmed with
gratitude. For the first time, she realized that her mom’s silence had been her way of saying,

W: Zoltan, you’re studying rare birds all around the world. So, you have to travel a lot. Do you ever takeholidays?
M: No, not often. My work is also my hobby. I’ve been to Paris, Rome and Egypt, but it was always
because my work took me there. For my last trip, I went to Sudan to look for rare birds.
W: But you must take a holiday sometimes.
M: Well, once or twice I have traveled to some places not connected with birds. For example, I spent a
holiday in Hawaii with some friends. They enjoyed the beach and the markets while I went diving with my
underwater camera.
W: Is your camera the most important thing when you travel?
M: Yes, my camera and my sleeping bag. With a sleeping bag, I can sleep anywhere I want.
W: So, have you ever stayed in hotels?
M: If I go with friends, I might stay at a hotel or a guesthouse. But normally I’m on my own, so I rarely
book a hotel in advance. I can fall asleep in a sleeping bag anytime and anywhere.
