Roommate Wanted
I’m Li Hua, an exchange student from China. I’m looking for a roommate to co-rent a flat
during my stay in the UK.
Located just outside the university gate, the flat is within the walking distance. It has two
bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen with air conditioners and furniture well equipped, which
can well guarantee your privacy and convenience.
I’m a friendly and outgoing boy who likes to keep things in order, so I like my roommate to
be a well-mannered boy, sharing much in common. If interested, you can reach me at 123456 or
lihua@gmai.
第二节
One day in her senior year, I saw her sitting in the grass, head buried in her arms. I
walked across the street and sat down in the cool grass beside her. Quietly I asked what was
wrong. “Oh, nothing,” came a soft reply. “I am just too short.” The coach told her that at 5’5” she
would probably never get to play for a top ranked team—much less offered a scholarship—so she
should stop dreaming about college. She was heartbroken and I felt my own throat tighten as I
sensed her disappointment. I asked her if she had talked to her dad about it yet.
She lifted her head from her hands and told me that her father said those coaches were
wrong. “My father said they just did not understand the power of a dream.” “Crace,” I said, “What
your father told you is right. Nothing could stop you except one thing– your own attitude.”
Looking directly into my eyes, she said, “You’re right. I’m not going to let this stop me.” She got
up and walked back towards the court. I watched as she picked up the basketball and began to
shoot again. She continued to work hard and believed in herself. In the end, she received a full
scholarship to play college basketball and became one of the best players on her team. She made
me firmly believe if the dream is big enough, the facts don’t count.

W: When I was in middle school, I found math very difficult. Since both of my parents didn't
receive a good education, they couldn't help me with my math. As a result, I did worse and worse
in it. When I entered high school, I almost lost interest in math and didn't think I'd ever do well in
it. Even my math teacher was disappointed in me. But everything changed after I made friends
with a girl named Lisa. She's a very kind and hard-working girl. We became friends because we
both love reading classic novels. We promised we'd go to the same university after high school so
we could remain close friends. However, soon Lisa found I was bad at math and became worried.

math. So, she decided to give me a hand. She was good at explaining math problems to me. Due
to her help, I found math was not that difficult and did better and better in it. Now we're both
studying in the university she longed for.
