Teaching procedures
Step 1: Warming up+ Lead-in
1. Greetings.
2. Invite students to do some actions or imitate the sounds that show the ways they get to
school. Let other students guess what kind of transportation they take and introduce the topic.
Step 2: Pre-reading
1. Display some transportation on the screen and introduce the key words “take” “walk”,
meanwhile, lead students to pair the words up.
2. Ask students to look at the pictures and the title in the textbook and guess how Ms Guo

Step 3: While-reading
1. Ask students to read the text quickly to check their predictions and find out the job, the
living and the working places of Ms Guo. Then, invite one student to answer.
2. Encourage students to draw a route map when they read the passage and ask them “How
does Ms Guo get to school?”
Then collect answers and expressions. In this part, enlighten students to observe the verbs,
and then, emphasize the “s” added at the end of the verbs. Explain the rules and underline them
on the blackboard.
3. Read the text for students and ask them to read after aloud to imitate the intonation and
pronunciation.
Step 4: Post-reading
Create a situation where a new student, Lisa, is coming next week and she would appreciate
it if we could design a route for her to come to the school.
Provide students with Lisa’s address and divide them into different groups. Ten minutes will
be given. Then, invite several groups to share and give reasons.
Inspire students with the question “Why don’t Ms Guo and Lisa come to school by car?”

bus. What about the second one? It’s a train. If we want to express the way of
transportation we use, which verb can we use? We can use “take”. For example, we
take the bus. We take the train. We take the subway. If we don’t use any tool of
transportation, we can say we walk some place. For example, we walk to school.
Now pupils, open your book and look at the four pictures please. What can you see?

见的一些事物能帮助学生记忆。例如,在记忆单词“eye”时,可以把两个“e”想象成两只
