Artificial intelligence (AI) can now do amazing things. Chat GPT is an AI that can answer
questions,tellstories,anddomuchmore.Butit’svery“thirsty”,saidanewstudy.
when Chat GPT works, its “home” – data (数据) centers around the world – gets very hot.

If you ask Chat GPT 20 to 50 questions, it needs to “drink” a 500-milliliter bottle of water.
When people trained ChatGPT, itused700,000 liters ofwater, said the study. This is the amount
thatisneededtomakeabout370cars.
Chat GPT is not the only one that needs data centers. Everything you do on the internet needs
data centers to work. There are more than 8,000 data centers in the world, said a report in 2021.
The number is still growing. If AI keeps using a lot of water, we may have to “fight” with AI for
water.
AI uses a lot of water to "grow". Many people may not have enough water to drink because of
water shortage. However, we need better AI to develop better technology. Should we rethink the
useofAI?Discusswithyourfriends.

But recently, some old Chinese brands have made a comeback. It’s a good start, but there’s more

In early September, anger over a Chinese makeup brand’s eyebrow pens(眉笔) lit up the

Shortly after, Bee & Flower started to sell three large bottles of hair care products for the same

Ever since the earliest people painted on cave walls, we have used art to explore our
experiencesandwhatitmeanstobehuman.Butwhatifaworkofartwasn’tcreatedbyahuman?
This is aquestionthat’s beingasked more andmore asartists begin programming robotsto create
everythingfrompaintingsandsculpturestomusicandliterature.
25In 1973, British-born painter Harold Cohen wrote a computer program called AARON. At
first, AARON only made simple outlines whose color and details Cohen would later add. Fifty
yearslater,AARONisabletopaintpeople,landscapesandjustaboutanythingelseahumancould
paint.
So, canAARON be called an artist or creative? In 2010, Cohen explained that although he
wrote the first computer code thatAARON follows, “AARON can produce unlimited numbers of
images.”SoaccordingtoCohen,thesimpleanswerisyes,AARONiscreative.
It’s notjustpaintings thatrobots are creating, though. Lastyear,a robotcalled Shimon made
its first album (音乐专辑) on Spotify. Built by a team at Georgia Tech’s Center for Music
TechnologyintheUS,Shimonbeganlifeasasimplerobotpianoplayer.Overtheyears,however,
it has learned how to work with other musicians, write songs and compose. Shimon does this by
studyingmuchmusictoknowtypesandthenusesthatinformationtocreateworks.
Itmay becoolto hearasongcreated byarobot, butis there anyother reasontobuild robots
that can play music? According to Gil Weinberg, one of Shimon’s creators, because the robot is
able to do things that a real musician might not think of, he and his team hope and believe that

Whether or not you believe that art created by robots is just as creative as art created by
humans, there’s no doubt that robotic art assistants (助手) could have very good influence on
artists. For one, they could cut down the time which an artist needs to do basic parts of art

The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. Awakening of
Insects(惊蛰)fallsonMarch5thisyear.
Awakening of Insects signals a rise in temperature and increased rain fall.As the third solar
term in the lunar year, its name means that animals sleeping in winter are awakened by spring
thunder and that the earth begins to come back to life. It is the key time for spring agricultural
activities.
The spring thunder is most noticeable during the Awakening of Insects solar term. An old
Chinese saying goes: "If the first spring thunder crashes before the Awakening of Insects solar
term,therewillbeusualweatherthatyear."
The Awakening of Insects falls after the end of winter and before the beginning of spring.
Wind during this period is an important factor in weather forecasting. Modern meteorological
science shows that around the Awakening of Insects, the earth becomes humid(潮湿的) and the
hot air near the surface rises; Meanwhile, the hot humid air from the north is strong and creates
frequent winds. For this reason, thunder happens in this period. China covers a large area from
northtosouth,sothefirstspringthunderappearsatdifferenttimesindifferentareas.
According to ancient Chinese folklore, a white tiger is the creature that brings quarrels and
disputes(是非). It always begins hunting during the Awakening of Insects, and sometimes bites
people.Itissaidthatthosebittenbyawhitetigerwillhavebadluckintheirlife.Thereforepeople

When practicing this old custom, people draw the white tiger on paper, and then smear(涂)
pig's blood and pork on its mouth. This means the tiger is fed so that it would not bite people,
