history and the most famous sight is Taj Mahal.
We flew to India from Shanghai. It took us just a few hours to get there. I carried camera with

advised me to ride on an elephant. Though my heart was filled with fear, I rode on it at last. I rode

Marco Polo was born in Italy in 1254. When he was 17, he began to travel across Europe and
Asia along the Silk Road with his father, who wanted to do trade with the Chinese. Finally, they
arrived in Beijing. They were guests at Emperor's Palace. Although Marco was young, he was very
clever and could speak four languages. The Emperor sent him to do many important tasks across the
country.
Marco was amazed by how beautiful China was. He was impressed by Beijing and the
Emperor's Palace, especially the palace which he described as the greatest palace that he has ever
seen….The walls were covered in gold and silver and the hall was so large that it could easily hold
6,000 people for dinner.”
There were inventions and developments in China which couldn't be found in Europe at that
time. Marco was surprised to see Chinese people using paper money in the markets. In Europe,
people paid for goods with gold and silver. He could not understand how people paid for food and
valuable things with paper!
In 1291 Marco returned to Italy. He was then a very wealthy man. A writer wrote down all the
stories about China that Marco had told him in a book called The Description of the World, which
became one of the bestselling books in Europe.

听第一篇短文,回答第13~15小题。
With the development of science, more and more people are thinking about whether it is goodor bad to make robots. Every coin has two sides. In my opinion, the advantages of robots are much
more than the disadvantages of robots.
First, robots make our life more convenient. We can do many things that we didn't have the
ability to do in the past by using robots. That makes our life more effective.
Second, robots can be used in industry production. Factories can reduce the cost of
production by using robots, since robots do not need to eat and they will not be ill. That's very good
for producing goods.
Third, robots can save more people when the disaster happens because they can't feel pain and
they can save more people without feeling tired, In a word, the world is changing. We should also
change our thoughts to accept robots to become part of our life. That can make our life more
colourful.
听第二篇短文,回答第16~20小题。
When I was growing up, I was ashamed of being seen with my father. He was disabled and
quite ugly. He used to walk together with me and his hand was on my arm for balance. At this time,
people would look at us very directly. I would feel uncomfortable and was afraid to look at others.
Dad noticed that, but he never showed that he knew.
It was difficult to make our steps. We seldom talked to each other as we went along. But each
time we started out, he always said, “You set the pace, and I’ll follow you."
We usually took the underground. That was how he went to his office. He almost never got to
work late, even though he was ill or met with bad weather. He never felt sad that he was disabled
and he never envied the lucky or able persons. He looked for a "good heart" in others.
Now, I'm older and realize that it is not right to judge a person by his appearance. I want to
tell Dad how sorry I am that I was not willing to walk with him in public and I ever felt ashamed to
be his daughter. I think of him when I complain about something unimportant, envy another's good
luck or don't have a "good heart". I want to put my hand on his arm and say, "You set the pace, and
I’ll try to follow you."
Dad is the person I admire most.

Mars? Let's imagine. This is the morning on Mars. You wake up in a capsule. You get up and go washing without

听第二篇短文,回答第16~20小题。
Chinese writing is one of the world’s greatest writing systems. More than half of the world’s
books are written in Chinese.
At the beginning, written Chinese was a picture-based language. It dates back several thousand
years to the use of animal bones and shells on which symbols were carved by ancient Chinese
people.
By the Shang dynasty, the system developed into different forms, as it was a time when people
were divided into different parts. However, this changed under emperor Qin Shi Huang of the Qin
dynasty.
Emperor Qin Shi Huang united the seven main states into one country where the Chinese
writing system began to develop in one direction. That writing system was very important in uniting
the Chinese people and culture. Even today, no matter where Chinese people live or how they speak,
they can all still communicate in writing.
Today, Chinese writing system is still an important part of Chinese culture. A lot of international
students are beginning to learn China's culture through this amazing language.

Henan Province. She joined the PLA Air Force in 1997. After years of hard training, she was finally
chosen to work in China’s space programme. Her hobbies are reading and cooking.
Liu Yang landed space in 2012 with another two astronauts of the launch of Shenzhou 9. In
space, Liu Yang carried out experiments in space medicine. In 2022, she landed space again and
succeeded in completing the manned flight mission of Shenzhou 14.

(三)Are the robots necessary in our daily life?
Robots have been into use in more and more families for a few years. Recently, our class had a
discussion on whether the robots are necessary in our daily life. Different people have different
ideas.
60% of the students think it is necessary to own a robot. First, they all believe that the robots
can help people with housework, people can have much free time. Second, robots can help us with
homework when we have some problems. Also, robots can chat with us when we are lonely.
However, the rest of the students don’t agree with them. They think that the robots may cost
plenty of money. Besides, robots may reduce people’s abilities that they are good at now. what’s
more, they may cause some problems if they catch a virus.
As for me, I prefer to support to own a robot because I think the advantages of robots are much
more than the disadvantages of robots. They make our life much easier.
