Alittleboynamed Harry becamevery ill.He had to lieinbed all day, unableto
move. He spent hisdays feeling sad.
There wasn’t much hecoulddo except look out ofthewindow.Timepassed, and
his illnessmade himupset. Until oneday hesaw astrangesign outsidethewindow. It
was a pandaeating asausage sandwich. Thepanda got in through theopenwindow,
and said “good afternoon”to Harry.It turned around, and left quickly.
Ofcourse, Harry was very surprised.He was still trying towork outwhat had
happened.Outsidehis windowhesaw amonkey busyblowing upaballoon. At first
Harry asked himselfwhat that could possiblybe, butafter awhile, as moreand more
crazy-looking characters appeared outsidethewindow hecouldn’t help laughing and
foundit hard to stop.
An elephant jumped onastone, or adogwore apair ofglasses and acted in
afunny way. The littleboydidn’t tell anyone about this. Thosestrange animals ended
upputtingjoy back inhis heart, andin his body. Before long, his health hadimproved
so much that hewas ableto go back to schoolagain.
There hetold his classmates all that he had experienced.Whilehewas talking to
his bestfriend Jim,hesaw somethingcoming out ofhis friend’s schoolbag. Harry
asked Jim what it was, and hewas so insistentthat finally Jim had to showhimwhat
was intheschoolbag.
There, inside, were all thethings that his best friend had been using to try to cheer
upthelittleboy!
And from that day on,Harry always did hisbest to make surethat noonefelt sad
and lonely.
