Festivals Around the World
Festivals and celebrations have taken place everywhere since ancient times. Different festivals have different
origins,some religious,some seasonal, some for beliefs and some for special people,such as the famous poet, Qu
Yuan, who was drowned in MiLuo River,or great events, such as the harvest gained by starved hunters.
Every festival has its own significant meaning. Japanese festival Obon is in memory of their ancestors. On the
important feast day of Mexico, people offer food in the shape of skulls and cakes with bone on them to honour the
dead. In India, a national festival is to celebrate the independence from Britain.In our country there are two most
important traditional festivals people look forward to, one is Mid-autumn Day, on which people gather together to
celebrate agricultural harvest and admire the beauty of the full moon at night, the other is the Spring Festival.Before
its arrival, people begin to prepare for it energetically, for example,a large number of companies hold party to give
awards for their excellent clerks, who keep their word to complete their goals. Children take out beautiful clothing
to dress up to go out to play with their parents’ permission. They play a trick on and have fun with each other day
and night
Besides, there is a worldwide festival named Easter, which is for Christians,who set off early to turn up in
church next to the parking lot. They hold their breath in front of Jesus’s portrait. In order to wipe sadness, they
weep and apologize to God for they fooled others and beg to be forgiven, obviously it is a custom.
Festivals remind us of good days and expecting bright future. Lost in happy atmosphere, we forget everything
as though the world stands still.

自从古代，各地都会举行节日和庆祝活动。不同的节日有不同的起源，有宗教的，季节的，信仰的，

公司举办联欢会为那些遵守诺言完成目标的优秀员工颁奖。孩子们拿出漂亮的衣服盛装打扮在父母的允许
下出去玩。他们整天彼此搞恶作剧，玩得非常开心。
另外，有一个世界范围的节日，叫复活节，是基督徒的节日，他们出发的很早出现在停车场旁的教堂。
他们在耶稣的画像前屏住呼吸。为了抹去悲伤，他们哭泣并且向上帝道歉忏悔，因为他们欺骗了别人，并
且乞求被原谅。显然，这是一个风俗。
节日使我们想起美好的日子，期待光明的未来。沉浸在快乐的气氛中我们忘记了一切，仿佛世界静止

An Interesting Love Story
There used to be two young people,Wang Peng and Yong Hui,both of whom ran a restaurant to make a living.
In Wang Peng’s restaurant,all kinds of diet were served, such as barbecued mutton, roasted pork with
pepper,fried rice ,delicious bacon and so on. Usually these food ought to be sold by lunch time. But today, there

were no customers coming to his restaurant. He was wondering what was happening when he found many people
enter Yong Hui’s restaurant across the street. With curiosity, Wang visited Yong Hui’s restaurant, where he
understood everything. The slim hostess, Yong Hui introduced her restaurant to him, which served peas, eggplants,
cucumber,mushroom, peaches,nuts, and lemon. By eating raw vegetables with vinegar and fruits, people would lose
weight.
Wang Peng didn’t believe what she said. He couldn’t have her getting away with telling lies. He wanted to win
his customers back, or he would be in debt,so he spied on her. Meanwhile, he also consulted an expert, who told
him their menus were limited with strengths and weakness. The expert advised him to cut down some fatty food
and combined it with vegetables and fruits. By using new menu and discount, his business thrived again. However,
Yong Hui’s was not good. She came to Wang Peng’s restaurant with anger and glared at him. Wang Peng
explained and apologized to her, treating her to dumplings and breast of chicken cooked with garlic. Yong Hui
sighed and was seated to eat together with him. They talked a lot about their restaurants delightedly.
Before long the two young people were married and ran a restaurant together, which served a balanced diet
rich in fibre that was helpful to digest . Yong Hui put on weight as well, looking lovely and attractive.
