A Very Small Bird Comes to Guangdong for the First Time

A small bird came to Lianping, Guangdong for the first time. Park workers saw two of them over a pine forest. This bird's name was never on the town's list.

The bird is the cotton pygmy goose. It is called the smallest duck in the world. It is a protected animal in China. An adult bird is about 30 cm long. It looks like white cotton on the water. It lives only in clean lakes and rivers.

This year, the park found over 100 new kinds of animals and plants. Five are protected birds. In April 2026, the park began a new watching program. Now many shy animals can be seen.
