At the beginning of the class, students will be shown a set of data and pictures, including
the living habits of the Tibetan antelope, the uniqueness of the Tibetan antelope’s wool,
how the poachers kill the Tibetan antelope by cruel means, the comparison of the number
of the Tibetan antelope in the past and at present, and so on.

the necessity and importance of protecting the Tibetan antelope, and it can lead to the
topic today naturally.)实例展示:
At the beginning of the lesson, the teacher will ask students some questions about
students’ school life:
a. What do you usually do at school?
b. What’s your feeling about school life?
c. Have you ever been to foreign country or foreign school?
d. Can you imagine the school life in New York?
(Justification: Through this series of questions, students will have the opportunity to
express their own ideas on things. This can also stimulate the students’ desire to have a
further exploration on the text and naturally lead to the new lesson.)实例展示:
At first, the teacher can show the picture of a famous actress, Audrey Hepburn, and then
share a story about her, who was not just able to act in films, but also kind-hearted. She was
the representative of UNICEF ambassadors, fighting for the rights of women and children
in the third world. It can lead to another successful lady that we will learn.
(Justification: Through the picture and story of Audrey Hepburn, students can be moved by
the excellent qualities of great women, which can easily arouse students’ emotional
resonance. At the same time, this topic is closely related to today’s topic, which can be
introduced into this lesson smoothly.)A Country Music Song Changed Her Life Forever
When Sarah was a teenager, she used to fight over almost everything with her family. But
five years ago, while she was studying abroad in England, she heard a song full of feelings
about returning home on the radio. It made Sarah think about her family and friends back in
the U.S. She came to realize how much she actually missed all of them. Ever since then, she
has been a fan of American country music. Country music is a traditional kind of music from
the southern states of America. Nashville, Tennessee is the home of country music. Many
songs these days are just about modern life in the U.S., such as the importance of money and
success, but not about belonging to a group. However, country music brings us back to the
“good old days” when people were kind to each other and trusted one another. It reminds us
that the best things in life are free-laughter, friends, family, and the beauty of nature and the
countryside. Sarah hasn’t been to Nashville yet, but it is her dream to go there one day. She
has already read a lot about the place and done some research on it. She knows that there is a
Country Music Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville. There are also always a lot of great country
music concerts with famous musicians and singers, like Garth Brooks. Sarah has already
listened to most of his songs. “Garth is one of the most successful musicians in American
history. He has sold more than 120 million records. I hope to see him sing live one day!”Step 1 Lead-in(5 mins)
After greeting students, the teacher will show a video of a country music song
and ask one question: “What do you know about this kind of music?” Then
the teacher will invite some volunteers to share their answers. After that, the
teacher will give corresponding comments on students’ answers and show the
topic of this lesson.
(Justification: The video is vivid and interesting, which can arouse students’
interest to the teaching activity. Meanwhile, it can also introduce the topic
today naturally)P205
Step 5 Summary and homework
①Summary
教师自己总结;邀请学生总结,教师补充。
实例展示:
The teacher can ask students to act as assistants to conclude what we have learned from
this class, and then make a summary together.
(Justification:Reviewing the important knowledge in this lesson can deepen students’
impression and help them form good study habits.)P205

① Ask students to answer the following questions:
a. Have you ever smoked? If you have, have you ever tried to stop?
b. We know some adolescents started smoking at very early years. Why do you think they smoke?
