Dear Stephen
I'm Li Hua, one of your students in China. Thank you for being our teacher. Never will you know how much I love
English owing to your instruction.
English-learning now becomes part of my life, without which I will feel bored. Recently I have come across a few
popular words from the Internet that arouse my interest. I'm wondering if you could help me with it. I guess“goof, class
clown, laughing stock" refer to a silly or stupid person. In the following sentence“ His policies became the laughing stock of
the financial community.”, can I use “goof” to replace “laughing stock”? Would you please -tell me how to use these
words?
I'm really grateful for your commitment and efforts. I'm looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节
Eventually, she began to paint using her mouth. Overwhelmed by the courage, she considered my dad as a friend.Soon
the little girl was discharged because the doctors felt there was nothing else they could do for her. My dad also left the
children hospital since his health q condition became serious. After recovering and returning to work, he was at the volunteer
counter in the lobby of the hospital. He noticed the front doors open, thrilled and stunned.
In came the little girl who had been paralyzed, only this time she was walking . She ran straight over to my dad and
hugged him really tight. A picture she had done using her hands was presented to my dad. At the bottom it read: thank you
for helping me walk. Tear s welling up in his eyes, my father related this story to us. Sometimes love is more powerful than
doctors, and my dad who died just a few months after receiving the most marvelous picture loved every single child in that
hospital.
