In 1998, Boulanger traveled to China for the first time. He says he never forgets the vast lands and
beautiful scenery.10 years later, he traveled to Huangshan Mountain, a place that changed his life. He lived in
Tunxi District at the foot of the mountain for three months. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, the district is
famous for its Huizhou culture that is a unique regional culture. "I didn't want to leave here anymore. I
love the culture too much," Boulanger said. His trip to China thus turned into a long-term stay.

Several companies in different fields are hurrying to develop cool and dry face masks to help people in the
upcoming unbearable summer heat in Japan.
For instance, a sports marketing company in late May started sales of face masks made with a soft
stretch material that is used for its swimsuits and wear for track and field athletics. By using the material, the
repeatedly washable mask can fit the face with less stress and help prevent splash infections（感染）. The
product, which costs 935 yen including tax, gained strong popularity, with 20,000 pieces sold on its first
online sales day.
Similarly, another Japanese company, a maker of equipment for badminton, tennis and other sports, will
sell masks made with its "Very Cool" material containing xylitol from early July. Xylitol absorbs heat,
responding to sweat, and the material is used for the wear for the Japan badminton national team, as well
as professional tennis players. The company plans to sell the mask at 840 yen, tax included. Notably, the
length of the string of the quick-drying mask can be adjusted for a better fit.
In addition, a fast retailing company plans to start selling face masks this summer featuring a highly
breathable and fast-drying material used for its popular underwear products that are cool and dry quickly. Its
spokeswoman said the date of the debut of the mask and its price will be announced once they are determined.
But one thing is for sure; It won't cost more than 1,000 yen, including tax.
Moreover, a company, specializing in the production and sale of various knit products, has put on sale
cloth masks equipped with ice packs. The mask has two pockets to hold four refrigerant（冷却的）packs and can
cool the user's face for one to two hours. The new mask sells for 1,300 yen, including tax, in vending
machines and online sales are also available. The mask can be used repeatedly if cooled in a freezer.
These innovative approaches by various companies highlight the diverse strategies being employed to combat

A remarkable discovery has changed the way scientists think about the history of cancer treatment. While many
people think of cancer as a disease that affects only modern-day humans, cancer has been around for thousands
of years and new research shows that humans have also tried to manage it for thousands of years. The study of
two ancient Egyptian skulls（颅骨）held at the University of Cambridge in England suggests that ancient
Egyptians may have performed surgery to manage cancer.
Professor Edgard from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela in Spain and his team were shocked when
they found cut marks and evidence of cancer in the skulls of two ancient Egyptians dating back 4,000 years. While
Egyptians are well-known for having excellent medical knowledge and treating a range of diseases, they had
never been known for treating cancer.
"The skulls had already been studied in 1963 by other scientists. However, the technology at that time
wasn't advanced enough to pick up the cut marks of surgery found on the skulls," Professor Edgard said. It was
thanks to the Digital Microscope HR-2016 that scientists spotted surgical cut marks around two cancer
lesions（病变）.
One limitation regarding cancer is that there are too few cancer cases on ancient human remains. The study of
disease found in animal and human remains aims to find out as much as possible about diseases in the past to help our
understanding of diseases now.
